Col.
Following a re-organisation of the stash I came across a couple of unfinished projects that had fallen by the wayside, one of which was an attempt to convert a 72nd scale Airfix Su-27 into the P.42 record-breaking machine. Initial intention was to build the kit quickly to test my skills at the multi-shaded natural metal finish on this aircraft so not too much time was spent on cockpit detail, there is still a possibility I'll crew her to disguise things a bit. Last time I'd stopped at the main wheel bays having completed the main airframe and therefore most of the conversion work so that's where I started off again, cutting away the solid front fairings to hollow them out. It's the little part you can see here... ...and it goes on here... I'll stay in the u/c bays for a while adding some detail but need to find new online references since loosing everything I was working from over the years. Can anyone recommend a good walkaround? Col.
Gareth - thanks for that, was hoping to find a site that was my prime reference when this one was started but no joy so may have to spend some money after all. I'll keep this one in mind. InFlames - Alclad it is and lots of masking with it! There are a few good photos of the overall finish and it's quite a patchwork of metal shades so should be an interesting excercise for my airbrush skills, if truth be told it's the part I'm most looking forward to. Haven't had a chance to do anything with her this evening because a few of us were given a guided tour of the local paper-mill prior to it shutting down in a couple months time.
