Stebos Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) I'm planning this as the first part of my diorama: There's a PE set available for this, but I don't really think it needs it. It's mostly fine detail easily missed and the basic kit seems pretty good detail wise. Comes with a pair of figures which is nice to see, and needed for my purposes. Hope to start it quite soon, in the meanwhile some sprues: That's all for now! Edited February 11, 2009 by Stebos
darson Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 That's a nice kit Stebos and it doesn't need PE to make it look a real treat. I'll be looking forward to your updates.
Derbyeomanry Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Ive got the Tamiya M8 Greyhound kit half built - great kit. Somebody does a resin front axle which allows the front wheels to be set at an angle - might be worth a look...Neil
Stebos Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 Ah yes, Resicast do one. Just the thing to add a bit of life. I'll look over the kit parts later - it might be a simple cut & re-pin to do the same without having to import some resin (not seen a UK listing for that axle). Thanks for the heads up!
Stebos Posted February 15, 2009 Author Posted February 15, 2009 I decided the resin axle was going to cost too much (about £10 or so) so I'm going to botch together my own solution! Here's the axle as it starts off: After playing with some matches I softened the ends and tweaked them round: Some distortion will need a bit of trimming but I'm happy enough with it. The rest of the transmission just falls together: Shame all that detail won't generally be seen. I've left the exhaust off for seperate painting. Assembling the interior is next, so some detail parts need to be painted up first.
Brews Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Good solution. Why don't you make a resin copy & sell it for 2quid?
AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Nice simple solution Steve, well done
