rossm
The kit has appeared on Hannants website. The box art is shown and the fin looks wrong. As soon as anyone gets their hands on a kit please let us know what the plastic is like - I'd like to know whether to splash the cash at Yeovilton show next weekend. Wez
Fin looks correct to me JB. Agreed, The box top painting is pants - looks like it was done by somebody who'd only had a fleeting glimpse of a Lightning but, the rounded fin top is correct for Lightning F1-F2's. I'm not gonna start slagging the kits contents off based on a very poor piece of box art! Wez
DamienB
They were on sale at the MK show. Same canopy shape and rear end problem as the F.2A/F.6; belly tank a bit too bulged out at the sides, price through the roof.

Interesting - I suspect that the problems with the F1a/2 kit will be easier to correct than those on the F2a/6! I've added an Aeroclub tail-pipe set to my F6, reduced the depth of the belly tank, and have tried to re-profile the leading edge droop of the cambered wings! At least the straight wing of the earlier Lightning SHOULD be a bit easier to get right!!! Hopefully a swipe or two with some wet n'dry may sort the bulged bellytank? Not sure about the canopy as the only vac-formed replacement I have is for the Hasegawa F6 - which is far too long!
The wooksta V2.0
£22+ for a 72nd Lightning? Trumpeter can insert the kit rectally! I think I'll stick to the Airfix kit for the early versions. Even with the cost of all the upgrade bits (Aeroclub canopy, u/c and back end, plus Pavla cockpit) I'll still have change out of £20!
Eric Mc
That is shockingly bad. The doodlings on the back of my school exercise books produced more accurate Lighnings than the one featured on that box. Apart from the odd looking tailfin the cockpit is all wrong. Are proper aviation artists too expensive for the likes of Trumpeter? Edited February 9, 2009 by Eric Mc
Derwentsider
I had a look at one today, and apart from the tail issues it looks lovely. The small belly tanked ones always looked better anyway I thought. Some poor Chinese gadgie will have been as proud as punch with his artwork, but now will be crushed if he reads this thread. Having said that,bubble-top Lightnings? I thought they were kind of `razorbacked`

Possibly - but still better than £18. I have an old Airfix F1 in its "Snap Tight" guise in the loft along with the Revell F6 and the Trumpeter F6. I also have the Maintrack P1A. I must get around to building them some day.
