I am entering for fun and for thanking Steve for his wonderful service. I am not playing to win and in the unlikely case of winning some money, it will be used in Steve's shop for some more material. I took the Corvette as that is the kit I got from Steve, I never build anything from Accurate Miniatures and I am quite interested in it. Unfortunately there is only 4-5 weeks to build the car, and I usually need somewhere between 3 and 6 months, so the car can't be as detailled and well finished as I would like, I apologize for that. The car will be build out of the box, with additional detailling. I hope you will like to watch this build as I do building it. Normally, a paintjob usually takes me a month of preparing, sanding, primering, painting and finishing. But I had to spray the car in two days, so I have enough time for the lacquer to hard and I can polish the body after 2-3 weeks. Just in time for the deadline. It is more of a challenge and I like Challenges. I might upload some more pictures tonight, since there has been a bit more progress than the last pictures, but my card-reader froze on me. And yes, it only took two days to do the paintjob, without finishing, that is planned for next weekend. You have given only a month to build and with a busy job and G/F, it is hard to find a lot of modelling time. But so far, I am quite happy with the progress. Usually I need a lot of time to fix my mistakes, this one comes together quite good. So instead I am going to bore you guys with letters. I must say that this A/M kit has given me both good and bad times. The kit is wel detailled and I can definately recommend this kit. However, the guide is quite unclear. Some parts are posable in more than one way and the guide does not state that all that well or show a drawing on how to attach the parts. Even more, if English isn't your first language, in fact it is my third, it is sometimes hard to make it visable on how to attach the parts. So far, I think I've managed to mount the parts the right way, the trickiest were the panels on the back off the interior and the coolant hoses. I've been working most on some linkage and I am getting to the point if I should add some more or not. What I've did so far is; -Batterycables and clamps -Coolant hoses -Oil hoses, to and from the oil-cooler -Ignition-wiring -Starter-motor wiring -Rear-brake lines -Fuel-lines to the front filter -Fuel dump lines on the carberettor -Fuel lines to the carberettor -Fuel breathe hose on the tank -Brake-lines on the master-cilinder. Overall, it does show ok. I am not completely satisfied with the bottom, but seen the time, I am going to blame it on that. The interior has been further detailled and I will finish that one soon. Plus I hope to polish the body this weekend. If somebody has some more suggestions on the wires/hoses/lines, I would like to hear that and see if I can add it. He He Erik, I got the kits yesterday from my parents I had 2 kits same kit different box had a surprise when I opened the boxes I have a detail set from MCG which I knew about the Roadster body in resin by Mini exoctics and then I found a set of decals to make a different version plus some detail bits from HRM a Nassau bonnet, front wishbones- it lowers it apparantlly, and exhaust headers and i dug out the book i'll try and post a couple of pics over the weekend, i'm getting on with my Cayman at the moment how does this sound the body is metallic Green as per the LeMans Bentley but I'm doing yellow wheels rear spoiler and front intake but having said that it has started snowing so It may be put off for a bit. I'm not sure yellow wheels would work with the Cayman, but I absolutely do not discourage it. I am interested to see that, it all depends on the kind of yellow ofcourse. If you use BRG, I would suggest to go for hard-yellow. To make it stand out a lot. But anthracite wheels wouldn't look bad either. Especially on a Porsche. Do you have a paint-booth? If not, make one. It is definately worth the money and effort. Ever since I build myself one, my paintjobs are getting better and better. I even heated it now, so I can paint in this cold too. Iwonder Steve Well...it is your anniversary build... get your butt out to Halfords and get the right color. The right colour is so important. It was only when you replied in my thread that I realised I hadn't had any e-mail alerts telling me your thread had been updated. So sorry about that, don't know what happened there, probably finger trouble on my part! Anyway, I think your progress on the kit has been remarkable! I have an A.M. Can Am McLaren kit - I sometimes take it out of its box, look at all the parts - & then put it away again! So I think you really must like a challenge like you say to take on a build of such a complicated kit in such a short period of time! Great job so far, good luck with the rest of the build!! Keef; No need for apologies ;-) it's ok. I hope it is working for you now. I think it helped me in this build that I've put several Fujimi enthusiasts together, but I need to be honest and tell I'd rather have some more time. I think I could've finish a bit better. But i might be able to work on that some more. Although....we only got two more weeks! Yuk! I will try upload some more pictures today or tomorrow, but a small update has been performed this weekend: whoohoo! I managed to polish the body and it looks ok. Too bad the decals were not the best, but I've seen that the newer kits have Cartograf decals. So I assume they will be better. I also spraypainted the bonnet vents and had to repair twice damage. I live in the weekend 100 miles from where I live during the week and during transport it fell twice and got broken on several places. Most of it has been repaired, but it is visible. Oh; and the bonnet can't be shut. I hope I will be able to adjust that, but I might not be able to. So please keep quiet and dont mention it to the judges hahahaha. Stevieboy Posted February 17, 2009 Share Posted February 17, 2009 OK guys I will put some pics up tomorrow of the AM vette and the bits I got for them,all plans for a quiet weekend were hampered by loadsa stock arriving after being delayed because a snowflake fell somewhere and all pandamonieme broke out and on top of that we have just had a great weekend selling stuff as well !! We are also now commited to the best show of the year The Southern Expo-well it is only 3 miles down the road. We've been busting our behinds off and now we can have all the time....hmmm! haha. No honestly, I would suggest to try and go for it Steve, try to build it before the 2nd, I am quie surprised how far I've come so far. I do notice that when the pressure is on, there is more efficiency in the builds. Oh, and I try to upload some photo's today. Shiloh, naah, I got too many other projects that now are completely neglected because of this build ;-) Maybe later Keefr: Thanks but you are too kind. I'd rather have the bonnet to close, since that would be more realistic. But I've tried and can not find a proper way to make it shut, so it will be build open. I got everything laid out today to take the pics of the stuff I have for this kit and guess what the battery in the camera went flat so I have now charged the battery and will take the pics tomorrow as I think it will be the quietest day of the week and I already have a few orders to do, but I did manage to have a good tidy in the shed so I will get on with the Porsche tomorrow.
