desmojen
Hi guys. Wondering if anyone has any ideas on this as it is bugging the crap out of me! I like to fit and blend in the transparencies on my models rather than place them on at the end. This almost inevitably means some sanding and polishing goes on, if not on the canopy itself, then next to it. I find that more often than not, the canopies get charged up and then attract particles form other galaxies to stick to the insides. A lot of times, they seem to come already charged, and cleaning and polishing them only makes it worse. My KUTA Mirage was ruined by this (an otherwise decent model) and I've got the same problem now with my Prowler. For now I've masked it and can't see it, but I just know how peed off I'm going to be when I demask it. Does anyone have any ideas that might help, or have the same problems? Jen. Richard M
I'll second that! I did read somewhere about a device that people who have records use for zapping them to remove static and therefore dust. I think they were expensive or hard to come by due to the demise of vinyl records. If you use it on models it gets rid of the static charge and the dust drops off. Edit, found it, Zerostat® 3 Antistatic Gun, at USD100, might be worth investing in. Best Rich Edited January 29, 2009 by Richard M

little-cars
Or you can use the antistatic polish that I sell alongside the micro mesh products, £2.50 a bottle at the moment.

TonyT
Daaanaaaaaaaaaaaaa, cheap and simple http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A306749 Or maplins antistatic wipes, about 3 quid a pack http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...&doy=search Or maplins antistatic spray, about 4 quid a can http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...-STATIC%20SPRAY I use the spray and wipes at work, though not tried any on a model canopy, the first item is readily available in the supermarket. desmojen
Excellent, thanks for the ideas folks. I do have some anti static cleaner (meant for cars) that I use before paint, but it isn't overly effective. I will try some of the things you have all mentioned Thanks, Jen.
