eng
Bought this a few months ago with the intention of having a go at a metal finish, but now can't be a**ed, so thought I'd do it overall yellow with some RAF roundels and markings. I know it's probably along way off a RAF Harvard but I need something colourful to go on the shelf and its actually been quite a nice kit to build. Here's where I've got to so far I added some seat belts from painted Tamiya tape and painted buckles on, and used a silver pencil to weather the edges of the seats. The instrument panels were painted very dark grey, dials painted black and then dry brushed, and I think look rather nice. The worst problem is filling this seam on the lower aft fuselage, as it has 3 (I'm assuming) antenna to go around. I think I may just loose these and replace them with small plastic discs later. Just need to mask all the glazing on the canopy, fit it and we'll be ready for a spot of primer and paint. Comments good or bad very welcome, Ta, Eng Edited March 22, 2009 by eng
dad's lad
It would be interesting to know what those 3 under fuselage blobs are. I assumed that they were identification lights and would have drilled them out thereby negating the tricky filler application. Clive
derek burton
CMR do an extended exhaust and a canopy with the longer rear section and extra frames. Hannants have them in stock and i think the bumps under the fuselage are lights, they show up on the freightdog decal sheet instructions green/red/amber-yellow green forward. Dek. eng
Thank's for the info peep's, it did also cross my mind that these might be lights, but the fact they protruded so much made me think antenna. I'm liking lights! And making them flush ain't half bad either!!! Ta ra, Eng (off to find some sanding sticks!)
eng
Maybe I should have left the word "quick" out of my title! Anyway, got the well fitting canopy installed and masked with one of the very nice Eduard kabuki tape paint masks, first time I've used one, and it won't be the last either. The thought of cutting masks for this was just a no-no! Undercoated the kit with Halfords white acrylic primer which was great, and after a quick tidy up of 2 small blemishes I've given it a 1st coat of Humbrol 69 from a Humbrol spray can. All was going well til it slipped from my grasp and landed on the grass!! I picked it up and there was only a couple of bits of crap stuck to it so I decided to let it dry them buff them away. Now it's awaiting a second coat of Yellow and then some black for the anti-glare panel and the wing walkway's. Just 2 quick pic's for now - Ta Ra, Eng

eng
2nd coat of yellow added and looks not to bad, had great fun getting all the canopy masking off and was well pleased with the results, I'd never have free-handed it as good as this (thank you Eduard!!). The leading edges could do with another blast of yellow as it still looks a bit thin here. Here she is de-masked and awaiting some detail painting and undercarriage - Eng
