gengriz
A nice kit, but with a few fitting issues. Bizzarely, it gives you a huge range of decals, but doesnt tell you what they are, or where they go. :???: and............I really, really hate separate track links! FredT and by way of comparison, here she is with the same scale Abbott SPG - shows just what a hulking beast the AS-90 is!

paul_c
what a hulking beast the AS-90 is! even more of a beast when a battery of them are firing outgoing over your tent at night! more scary than incoming, i can tell you! great model there mate, but seperate links in 1/72 must have been stressfull! gengriz
As90 looks top notch Fred, where were the fit issues? The rear sprocket assembly is made up of no less than 5 parts - 2 for the sprocket, a swinging arm, hydraulic tensioner/damper, and attachment to the hull. They seemed to go together very well, but the end result was 2x sprockets that were too far outboard. I really cant see where I went wrong, so I concluded it was a kit issue. As a result the sprockets interfered with fitting the upper hull, whose "touch points" (and thus where to apply glue) are also not at all obvious - I supect that the original (die cast metal?) mould was intended to use screws and the large posts on the lower hull. I also had to warp the trackslightly to get it to fit on the sprockets (frustration levels were very high by this point). The tracks were also a real issue in their own right - I cannot for the life of me see how the supplied lengths (1x long, 1x shorter and lots of individual ones) can be lomg enough to go around the entire track - there just arent enough of them, by a very long way! As a result, mine has no tracks on the top part (the long bit wasnt long enough for the bottom, never mind the top). But otherwise, a fun build!
