Trumpeter 1/35 Ch47D

Well this is my first model in about 30 years, well, all bar a started and never finished Wessex... I am trying to do it as one of the first Chinooks we got when I served on them, the metal bladed HC1 of 240 OCU.... I am a bit undecided as to completely detail or attempt to detail the back end of the cabin, or simply add all of the later soundproofing that they came with straight off the boat, I would like to detail it so we will see. I have ordered and I am awaiting the Eduard Big Ed for this and I am looking at getting the Cobra one as well...Gulp!

I WISH SOMEONE WOULD DO DECALS FOR THESE KITS....... They would sell, If the likes Of Cobra Company and Eduard deems it finacially viable, why have all the decal manufacturers skipped on by?

I have bought the Ch47D and the CH47A for the metal blades, but on inspection of them I may be able to make a set of rotors using the A as a template......

Ok where I have got to

The RAF Chinooks were soundproofed over the radios and heater in the front, so once I figured out how to mould it out of stock sheet, I pressed my own, :)

I have scratch built and added the likes of the door guide rail and also the curtain, If anyone has any pictures of the Jump seat I would be indebted..... the Cabin walls are wrong on the kit, so I have knocked up the heating ducting along the floor and I am in the process of updating the wall soundproofing, though the Eduard seats should had this. In the pics the floor is just slotted in, but final fit will leave a gap at the bottom of te duct as in the real thing...

I also painted and weathered the cabin floor as it gives me some incentive as I go along..

Hope you approve of what I have done so far...... this ain't gonna be quick to do.

There's some useful info from our resident Chinook Engineer here Trumpeter Chinook Info

regards

Chris

Thanks, helpful though some of it does not reflect the HC1 in use, we removed the rear soundproofing soon after we got them, indeed they arrived with a full set of centre seats and some snap on toolkits in the cabin, these to were heaved straight off. Stores was full of excess junk we didn't need, He also fails to mention the glaring error with the windscreen frames, amazes me they the canopy so wrong, but i cannot see how to sort it..

The one in the bottom right hand corner is what you are looking for. I did try to crop it but my computer would not let me tonight. The photo was taken from the Chinook in detail book by Wings and Wheels Publications, with a lot of the photos in it were taken when on my last trip in the RAF went to the air show at Roudnice in the Czech Republic, because a photographer from that publications came up and asked if he could take some pictures. If you need anymore do not hesitate to ask, although most of the interior is for the Mk2 alot is still relevant to the earlier model.

ohh please, anything of the interior would be a major boost, especially the roof and side wall fit, ie first aid kit locations etc. and the back end apu and sides as I intend to scratch build most of it.

Do be careful as even some of the interior of the cabin in these photos is Mk2 only.

Realise that I am going to struggle with getting the trim as per a HC1 so I am working on a version close to what I remember my pic of one and shots of a D, though

Little update, been making some bits and bobs, redone the interior soundproofing and also added the seat etc..... made the blanks to go under the seats I am adding along with a strop etc.........

Was thinking of doing a set - posted on the Helicopter area of ARC and got little/no interest...

Thought a sheet covering RAF and other non US users might be a flyer - and I want to do an RAF HC.1 myself...

I would jump at a set of RAF ones, also been hoping that someone would do aftermarket resin/metal add on RWR,ECM ,flare/chaff dispensers etc to build RAF versions. I have the kit sitting and can't get the enthusiasm to build it as a US flying truck I need the RAF stuff.

Make that two of us, I have searched high and low for some, also some for the interior, I have the Eduard set, but they do not cover the millions of stencils and first aid kit markings, I have resorted to buying several scale markings off ebay to tack something together for the interior I could not agree more about the resin as well, mine will be an early one so it has none of the bits mentioned, but decals definately I will buy them and I think there is a major gap in the market for them........ oh and someone PLEASE do some seated crew and passengers in modern British uniforms, again what is available in 1/35th for modern British is laughable, especially when you consider the armour market and the Gulf/Afganistan war. Also some Helicopter Crews too would not go amiss. I can link you to a complete maintenance marking description for the chinook if you need them.

More positive response here than on ARC - but I guess I should have asked here first! :speak_cool:

OK - Will make a start on designs this weekend for what will (hopefully) be my first commercial decal sheet (will probably use Fantasy Print Shop to print).

Have all the graphics tools and expertise (have been doing my own stuff on the ALPS) - but, yes, I think there's a gap in the market here - I bought both Trump Chinooks when they came out - just for such a project.

Have a few Chinook refs - but - yes - any info - especially stencils - would be *really* appreciated.

figures start about 9-7 and all the technical markings, break ins, drains, tie downs etc will be standard, so will most interior stuff.
