Sea Fury / Griffon Fury

At Telford I had a look at the new Dalrymple & Verdun Sea Fury book. What caught my eye were the pictures of the Griffon engined Fury prototype which covered angles I have not previously seen in print. Not wishing to pay £25 to get three pictures (I have little interest in the Sea Fury) I wonder if anyone could scan them for me please ?

My interest is in completing my set of Fury prototypes - see http://www.hrmtech.com/SIG/articles/sabre_fury.asp for the first one.

I don't recall the exact issue number but there was a Tony Buttler article on the Fury in Air Enthusiast some years back and it covered a lot of the type's development.

Nice job on LA610. I assume you cross kitted a Heller Tempest and PM Sea Fury? I only ask as I've got something similar on the go, using resin a resin conversion for the Tempest I cobbled together with a Matchbox Tempest VI engine on the PM Fury. It's together and primed, awaiting a final sanding. Mine will be a whiffed operational type. With kill markings.

The Air Enthusiast article doesn't show in my card index so it must be after I gave up on the subscription (No.67), but it's the photos in that new Dalrymple & Verdun book that would set me up. I have some Shackleton bits waiting and one or two photos but the angles in the book were just what I need to get everything to 'gel'. I nearly paid the £25 :o for the book but that would have been daft (wouldn't it ??!?!?!?).

'Twas a Frog Sea Fury, Heller Tempest and LF resin Tempest I conversion. The link gives all the gory details - cobbled covers it quite nicely !

I found easier to use the PM Sea Fury. I'll post some pix later but here's my recipe.

Cut the front off down the panel line on the fuselage just aft of the wing leading edge root. Sand down the flare out for the Centaurus and then cut a line in the fuselage to allow a pair of plastic card spacers to pull in the fuselage sides until they match the new cowling.

This was made by assembling the Matchbox Tempest Sabre cowling and then cutting the base off immediately underneath the exhausts. I'd copied the LE resin Tempest I conversion and as the exhausts never cast properly, I sanded them off and filled the resulting hole. Once attached, this deepened the cowling enough for the carb ram intake underneath the spinner.

Not exactly sure which PM kit I used, either the Baghdad Fury 2 seater (as the rudder's the right depth and you don't need to hack off the arrestor hook fairing). The wing leading edge radiators were cut down to fit and then filled where they touched. Finally, I added an Aeroclub white metal u/c as it's so much better than the PM one and gives some additional strength.

I'm planning on doing another, but using a Special Hobby Sea Fury as a basis.

Sorry, couldn't get any pictures of the model BUT.......

I'm a bit frustrated that what started as a request for information has turned into a parade of models - my fault for putting mine at the start I guess but I wanted to show I was serious about how I would use the information.

So I'll repeat the request with a further request that only direct replies (or PMs) are posted.....
