smuts
Hi guys, I've got Tamiya's new tool StuGIII on the bench now the only let down being the tracks are the old style vinyl & not the separate links we get with Dragon & others. Thing is I've heard horror stories about painting them, so I'm thinking about a wash of burnt sienna them weathering them with MiG pigments as usual if this wasn't a quick oob build I'd have got some AM links. thanks Andy. Nev
What colour are the tracks? If they are already a dark grey colour then thats pretty much what I do - dark wash, drybrush with silver, then weather with pigments etc. Word of warning though - using thinners will cause the tracks to become a bit stretchy! If used sparingly it can create a realistic sag effect, but for the washes I use Klear/Future as The solvent with Tamiya Black acrylic. The sag in my Crusader tracks was caused by using MiG thinners to apply their pigments and was an unintended but beneficial side effect
