desmojen
Hi all, I'm just starting on a 1/48 Saab Gripen and I have a couple of queries. First off, what are the correct colours? I think the instructions quote H306 and H308 from the Gunze range, but they are not directly mentioned on the colour scheme and decal placement diagram so I'm not sure. Secondly, I have four big missiles, two small ones and a fuel tank in the kit. Is it possible for the aircraft to carry six missiles and a fuel tank at once? If not, what might a typical weapons load be for a two seater? As an aside, what type of ground power unit do they use? Some sort of small diorama might be nice, since Eduard in their infinite wisdom depict the instruments as being switched on cheers, Jen.
AnonymousFY21
Thats probably because it's a SAAB, and you can't turn lots of things off on those . IPMS Stockholm has the colours as FS 36373-underside and nose, 36173-rest of airframe an underside insignia, 36118 for remaining insignia. Try Harold on the Swedish airforce SIG. I have his email if you want it. rich
GreenDragon
Is this any use Jen? Two wingtip AIM9 Sidewinders, two AGM-65 Mavericks, two RB15 anti-ship missiles and with a tank on the centreline. http://www.globalaircraft.org/planes/saab_39_gripen.pl Paul Harrison Edit: just found a list of some weapon loadouts here. http://www.canit.se/~griffon/aviation/gripen/armament.html Edited December 10, 2008 by GreenDragon
Sten Ekedahl
If you have questions about the SwAF Gripens, don't hesitate to ask them at the IPMS Stockholm English language forum. There are a couple of guys with very good knowledge about the Gripen (i.e. working on the actual aircraft almost every day) active there. They will be able to answer almost any possible question about the Gripen. One of them BTW did all the research for several of the latest decal sheets for Gripens and Drakens from Two Bobs.
