DominikS
Hi everyone! This is my first topic and post here and I'd like to introduce myself. My name's Dominik, I'm from Poland and I'm a beginner in this job...modelling. Oh yes, my favourite aircraft are British, especially Spits. At present I'm building a Spitfire FR XIVe in the SEAC markings - the "X"/MV 320 from 28the Squadron. Ok, now questions and requests. First of all, did the Far East Spits wear all the expoitation inscriptions or were they overpainted by the white stripes on wings and during repainting from Ocean Gray/Dark Green to Dark Earth/Dark Green patterns? And now request. Has anyone got photos of those DE/DG SEAC Spits? I've a few books about Spitfire but none of them contain such photos. TonyT
Hi Dominik Edgar will be along soon no doubt with more information for you....... have you seen this though http://www.geocities.jp/yoyuso/spit14/spit14e.html http://cgi.ebay.com/Decals-1-48-AeroMaster...DefaultDomain_0 http://www.fantasyprintshop.co.uk/Brits-Ab...cale_AJL6F.aspx http://www.fantasyprintshop.co.uk/Brits-Ab...cale_AJL74.aspx Edited December 2, 2008 by TonyT
Edgar
There are photos, of "B," "A," "H," "T," "X," and "Y" in Aircam no.8, all supplied by a G.J.Thomas. It's impossible to tell if the stencils are in place, but, if the writer of the modelling article is correct (and I see no reason to disbelieve him,) and the aircraft were repainted at a depot, it's most likely that they'd have had stencils available, and the markings would have been reapplied. There are faint lines on "H" and "T," under the filling point for the fuselage fuel tanks, which could be stencils. Interestingly, MV320's serial no. appears to have been white (as was SM888 "B"), while all of the others were black. Edgar

DominikS
Hi All!!! It's good to see that there are many more Spitlovers than I thought. Dennis - thanks for the message. TonyT I know AeroMaster's decals - I have them and I'm going to use them. But I didn't know about Freightdog Decs. I have to order them, especially for Jugs (in Poland everyone builds Yankee Jugs, but since I saw them for the first time with SEAC roundels I dream of one of them). Edgar thanks for hints...I have to buy this book (think I have to ask one of my friends who live in England to buy it for me). By the way, Dennis nice HellCat Small edit...These are my Spits, all in 1/72 scale. I built them between May and August. The First...the first time I used Gunze colours, the first time I painted with airbrush, the first time....I lost my patience. Only one photo Another "Fourteen". I think the camouflage is incorrect, but I based on Tally Ho! Decals. So maybe. Decals shine, I know...but I don't know why. I used gloss clear before decals and semi-gloss clear after. The last one, Spit Mk.I, Tamiya. Almost Lego Blocks. A bit clean, no weathering and no wash...I'm not experienced modeller and I'm a bit afraid of screwing up my job. But I am going to try washing with oil colours for painters. If I am successful I'll show it here. It was the last model, so far, in 1/72 scale. In September I started 1/48 scale. At the weekend I'll show Spit XIV photos. Cheers Dominik Edited December 3, 2008 by DominikS
