Here's a 1/72 Messerschmitt 110F (made with Eduard E and G kits). This aircraft was lost on March 4th, 1943 probably in combat with B-17s. I enjoyed building this model with these kits immensely. The radar antennas are from 3DF, and so are the exhausts.

Painted with Ammo paints: mostly ATOM but I went back to the regular range for the fine mottling. Thanks to @Planebuilder62 for donating the decals of the old Italeri kit.

The base is from Uschi van der Rosten (in an Ikea picture frame); the truck is from ACE; the mechanics are from IDAP and the pilot is from Preiser.

Hi Elger.

I hope you understand my sincerity in saying that I don't agree with the colors you've used from the ATOM range, specifically RLM 74 and 75. I consider them very different from what they should be, especially 74.

However, I must also say that I like the work because of its evident good taste, skill in airbrushing the paints, the handling of photo-etched parts and small details, the final finish, and the final assembly with the figures and the vehicle. Because one thing can't overshadow the other.

Splendid build! The attention to details, a.o. antennas and weapons, is impressive - even more so when the scale is taken into account. Well done! 👍

That is a beauty Elger. Gotta be one of the finest 1/72 Bf 110s I've seen. As others have said, the finesse of the radar antennae go a long way to lifting this build.. I must check this 3DF company out.

Well done Elger. I am glad to see my decals put to use. Thankyou very much.

I see you added a crying emoji to my comment. Is that because you think it's wrong for me to believe that the RLM 74 from the ATOM AMMO series is incorrect?

Or what's the reason?

I'm really curious to know.

There has been a long misunderstanding of the nature of 74, probably due to its unofficial name of Grungrau and some early poor quality colour photos.  The late expert on Luftwaffe colours, Ken Merrick, described it has only have any green tint if you looked very closely at fresh paint.  There are many other colour photos of high quality showing it as a simple grey.

In support of this, had the Luftwaffe fighters been painted in green and grey, the same as RAF fighters in this period, we could be guaranteed to find mention of this in RAF intelligence and pilots' reports.

thanks for all the replies everyone! I also appreciate the input on the colours; I don't want to turn this into a "what colour were these colours" thread but I agree that especially Ammo's RLM 74 is too green. I do like their purple-ish interpretation of RLM 75, even if it's a bit too much.

Colour photos can be misleading - but I saved these photos for my own reference:

A very nice rendition of a Bf110F, a kit bash that I have considered doing myself (and a constant wonder why Eduard never produced an F in 1/72 as there are some nice colour schemes for them). I must admit my first reaction on seeing the photos was that I wouldn't have been happy to use those paints, but it's not my model so not really my business to question why. Everything else about the build is top class.
