wimbledon99 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Hi All, I'm joining with the following. I'm a tad late but I'll hopefully have enough time 6 1
Jabba Posted October 13 Posted October 13 A nice addition to this GB. I saw this aircraft a few years ago at the Kbely museum in Prague. 1
Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Wooo Hooo !!! I was hoping this one and Black Mike would get built. The paint on this one is tricky though, almost has a metallic sheen to it. https://falkeeinsgreatplanes.blogspot.com/2017/08/blue-raf-f-4-phantoms-xv-408-xt-899.html?m=1 https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/view/1830002 Either way Im following, as Someday will build the plane. I will take notes. 1
wimbledon99 Posted October 14 Author Posted October 14 Thanks for the links, Dennis Nothing like a bit of pressure to ensure a GB completion 1 1
wimbledon99 Posted October 14 Author Posted October 14 I'm having so much fun with this, I thought I best stop and take a couple of photos! The cockpit is OOB, and with the lid on, there won't be much to see. The nose requires a touch of surfacer and rub, then the upper and lower sections can be joined. I have a feeling the paint and decals will end up taking longer than the build!! 6
Jabba Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Very good work getting the fuselage together so quickly, usually most of us struggle a bit with this. 1
Wings unlevel Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Nice Nigel, am missing this GB due to the schedule clash with the Hurricane GB, so wil live vicariously through your build! 1

Thanks Jabba To be fair, this has almost fallen together, with just a little filler. Almost feels like a Tamiya kit, only less detailed / more basic parts On 15/10/2025 at 12:50, Wings unlevel said: Nice Nigel, am missing this GB due to the schedule clash with the Hurricane GB, so wil live vicariously through your build! Hi Gerard, Hope it doesn't end up hurting your eyes!! Did I mention I didn't think this would take long?!?! The cockpit mask arrived yesterday so once applied, she should be ready for primer. I'm painting those few remaining parts before adding to the frame; should make masking easier 7

wimbledon99 Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 Well, I was hoping to post an update but Flickr is affected by the AWS outage
wimbledon99 Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 Flickr is back Primer on, ready for some blue! 4
Ray S Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Looking good @wimbledon99. What blue did you use? It's nice to hear it's gone together without drama. All the best for the rest of the build Ray
wimbledon99 Posted October 23 Author Posted October 23 Thanks Ray I used Tamiya XF8 over aluminium. It’s given it a slight metallic look to the naked eye. Maybe be able to see it better once the gloss is tamed after decals and wash 1 1
wimbledon99 Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 I'll sort some better pictures for the gallery in the week, but I'm calling this one done! A big to Dennis @Corsairfoxfouruncle for hosting and providing the excuse to have a go at this one, and to everyone else for the comments and company 4 1
Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted October 27 Posted October 27 (edited) No Thank you for building the blue Phantom. It and Black mike are two of my favorite special scheme's for Phantom’s. Edited October 27 by Corsairfoxfouruncle 1
roy107 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Nice work on that Phantom @wimbledon99. Blue really suits it. 1
