Evening all, long time since I last posted here. Work / life balance went hay wire, and the sunshine meant to much time spent cycling.

Any way, lots of catching up to do, will start with hopefully a quick and easy build. Revell Mk IIC converted to IID.

Not to many parts.

And the conversion kit.

Get this done, then onto the Sea Hurricanes.

As a keen cyclist myself, who struggles to find time for both riding and modelling, I can’t begrudge you that!

This looks like a great project to kickstart your modelling again. I do like the look of that 3D conversion kit, which I’ve not seen before.

Welcome to the build.

I've made a few Revell Hurricane IIbs, which pretty much the same kit, and I'd suggest using some spare sprue or rod to make spars to support the outer wing parts.

If you're planning on correcting its other errors, and it's your kit so your choice, this thread has some useful advice.

@Wings unlevel, the conversion kit was found whilst doom scrolling on ebay. This ones a simple kit, good progress is being made.

Top gun blisters sanded back and port infilled.

Gun pods mounted, inner shell ejector slot cut out.

Wings on, with a little bit of filler required.

This is looking great, as @Courageous says you wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of those bad boys. I've developed a bit of a fascination with the IId and those whopping great guns. I came across this video of 6 Squadron IId's doing a bit of target practice - close-up of those slightly scary 40mm shells being loaded.

I like the "flying can opener" nose art, the emblem was adopted by 6 Squadron as their tail badge and can be seen on their Typhoons to this day:

Nothing wrong with that! My rear derailleur fouled with the spokes a couple of weeks ago which is a pain, going to be a costly fix. Spending a lot of time paddleboarding at the moment.

Cheers

Great subject and a special unit that thankfully is still in existence today. I’m a huge fan of RAF Squadron history and love the way some units honour their past with badges reflecting their role and / or nicknames. I’m sure this will be a fitting tribute to No.6 Squadron’s famous Hurricanes. Nice progress so far.

Cheers and all the best.. Dave

Another rabbithole I found myself in yesterday... as well as the current Typhoons, 6 Sqn. has flown Canberras, Phantoms and Jaguars (the Airfix 1/48 kit has a 6 Sqn. decal option). I'm not a jet guy, but... 🤔

Cheers

Go on… I have, all be it a Xmas present so I can’t open it up for a few months yet. I’ll probably go with a RAFGermany unit though, as I plan to build a line up of aircraft from this region in good time.

Little update, the required scheme paints have arrived, so time to move this one on.

Wheel wells painted aluminum, then the entire frame primer with white.

That reminds me, I've got a Sea Hurricane to do in this scheme, best get finger out/

That’s looking very smooth in the one consistent colour, your primer coat highlights some very neat construction techniques. This is gonna be a cracker once finished.
Cheers.. Dave

Thanks Rabbit Leader, still learning the art of airbrushing, this is only my third model using one.

Azure Blue underside done.

And Middlestone upper done, just need to mask off the Dark Earth areas now.

Rest of the decals on.

20251029_193213

Removed the canopy masking, and most of the paint.

20251031_115530

Back to painting by hand, its always the canopies that get me. 🤬
