PhantomBigStu Posted September 29 Posted September 29 (edited) @Mjwomack Bad news, I did not have the roundels, the good news is I found an alternative scheme that required a different boxing that is cheap on ebay which I have ordered, will be luftwaffe one using the old frog decals. Should be a routine build for me Edited October 22 by PhantomBigStu 5 1
2996 Victor Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Nice! Luftwaffe Sabres always look great. Cheers, Mark 1
Mjwomack Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Hobbycraft are putting in a strong showing in this GB. And I approve that they're getting a moment of glory. 1 1
PhantomBigStu Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 Togethor, made a bit of mess attaching the wings and ended up breaking one off ooops, nothing that can't be fixed, also this will be replacing a previous build of a german one which has 2 faults, a) its the old frogawa mould that is crude and has the incorrect wingtips b) has the underside in silver, I misunderstood that RAL7001 Silver Grey is actually a grey with only a metallic hint that quickly weathers out 4 1
PhantomBigStu Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 That mess of an underside was a real task to sort and I made a mess of it, foolishly reached for a metal rasp which left scratch marks that required me to dive into my parents sander box to borrow some really coarse sanding pads to get rid of, its now down and a coat of RAL7001 on, in this case humbrol 128 5
PhantomBigStu Posted October 13 Author Posted October 13 Topside sanded and basalt grey painted ready for the brown olive which is a custom mix I’ve already tested on the stabs 4
PhantomBigStu Posted October 14 Author Posted October 14 Tommorows jobs: clean up the underside, add the canopy and it will be decal ready 4
PhantomBigStu Posted October 15 Author Posted October 15 (edited) Edit: correcting the issue in the original post is in progress, will edit again when done Edited October 15 by PhantomBigStu

PhantomBigStu Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 (edited) Frog Decals on, suffered some disintegrations to the top of the port tail and the iron crosses (my fault, put the crosses in the wrong place so they are spares box) white is a slightly purer shade in the new decals and painted bit. PhantomBigStu Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 (edited) Finished, not sure I find it aside from the accurate wing width and more accurate drab and underside colour I find it superior to the old hasegawa with hobbyboss decals, not sure I want to bin that now, might keep both till I can do a fujimi with hobbyboss decals, also quite a bit of difference shapewise between the 2 Edited October 22 by PhantomBigStu 4
Mjwomack Posted October 22 Posted October 22 What is this- a Blitzbuild?!!! You certainly didn't hang around, but it looks good and I hope it's helped restore your mojo 1
