Lifeline Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Hmmm Phantom group build?? Permission to join with this? Might add resin exhaust and ejection seat, definitely @Gene K intake, and most probably built in launch mode since the kit is missing the "short" landing gear. Cheers, Mario 4
Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Welcome to the build Mario, of course you can join us.
Jabba Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Welocme to this GB and I like your plan for the display of the finished article.
Lifeline Posted September 29 Author Posted September 29 Started the build, with cutting wings area required to pose the aircraft in launch configuration, and also preparing it for gene's air intake. Also build the intakes using paper, primer, paint it with off white and cover it with several layer of future to make it glossy. I source the engine fan from parts I revasted from revell F-4F. Also drilled out air scoops just aft of the intake splitter plate.. Also painted the cockpit, and only add several strands to replicate the cables coming from the WSO instrument panel. Closed the fuselage with not much of an issue in general, considering all the cut and added intake.. What the intake looks like from the outside Will just have to clean dusts from the modification later on though... Cheers, Mario 7 1
Jabba Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I like the way you have used simple items to make the intakes. A lot of detailed work in the cockpit.
Ray S Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Nice work so far, I really like the intake solution. Ray
Lifeline Posted October 15 Author Posted October 15 (Re)Attached the slats and flaps, and some fillong and sanding. Also re-do missing panel lines.. Meanwhile I decided to add Res/Kit Exhaust for this build.. And prime with Mr.Surface Black primer, followed with white for the underside Cheers, Mario 6
Lifeline Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 (edited) I tried AK real color EDSG, which I think quite nice and easy to apply... But several days before, I started to paint the metallic areas of the Phantom Mask then paint the metallic in general, add darkened shading here and there... More playing with masking tapes... Shades of paale burnt metal, some blues, and iron with jet exhaust... Pretty happy with the results... The stripes are there, without looking like metallic zebra. So.. this is the current state of the build; Next... Decals Cheers, Mario Edited October 25 by Lifeline 3 1
Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Some very impressive tape work on the underside with the 100 or so strips of tape. 1
