Dennis_C Posted September 30 Author Posted September 30 Hop hop - job done - time to go to bed! Exquisite fit of the parts. Some minor sanding might be needed tomorrow to remove some extra glue but filler is probably going to remain almost unused here. As I said before - the kit jumps together! 10
AaCee26 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 After looking this I have a spare FineMolds... 😕 Cheers, AaCee 1 1
Dennis_C Posted October 8 Author Posted October 8 Moving along here. Stabilisers and radiator bottom side added. Also I sanded and puttied some minor imperfections here and there. You can see grey spots around wing to fuselage joint on the bottom and in couple places along central seam on top. I think more caused by my own fat fingers rather than by kit problems. 6

Dennis_C Posted October 11 Author Posted October 11 (edited) Painting started today hey ho! Canopy masked - Art Scale mask fits fine. Saved me quite a lot of time! Canopy prepainted in interior brown colour. And masked undercarriage bays that I was lazy to masked last night. Primering done My favourite stage of model assembly process Also painted fuel tanks. Seems the conclusion is that brown paint same as interior one is the most correct. Cheers! Edited October 11 by Dennis_C 6
Col. Posted October 11 Posted October 11 More good progress Dennis. Time spent masking is never time wasted. 1
Dennis_C Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Moving on. I will pause now and continue on the next weekend. Black front engine cowling is the next step and I think I will use black gloss Vallejo primer that helps make metallics shine better. I thought to paint yellow wing leading edge and propeller tips but decided to try Tamiya decals for that. Seems fresh Tamiya decals have fairly positive reviews. 7
Col. Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Is your pause deliberate to allow the red paint time to fully harden Dennis?

My pause is due to unfortunate need to work 5 days a week And while I can quietly cut, sand and glue something late in the evening, my family won't be happy if I switch on my compressor at midnight So I'm leaving painting sessions for a day off next weekend. Generally I'm sanding/ cutting/ glueing/ masking/ decalling something at weekdays' [late] evenings and painting during couple hours on my weekends. Edited October 13 by Dennis_C 1

For this reason it's always good to have a small selection of projects at various stages Dennis. At least, that's my excuse... 1

At least, that's my excuse... Just edited my signature... I have 22 kits at various stages now. But that is right - I moved Ki-61 and small twin-boomers to the paint shop and plan to move forward with fine-tuning my Vautour this week. But in fact that is okay - I think I work for some time on almost all of them. Maybe LF Scout is a bit on shelf of doom. I was not too happy with the kit. Need some mojo to get back. Also Skyraiders are on the shelf for now. Again because I want to push them together and A&A kit is total crap. Too much effort was needed so that pulled me off. Would probably return to these when finish some on the bench now. Edited October 13 by Dennis_C 1
Dennis_C Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 Black is applied now. Decided not to go crazy with spraying everything the black gloss primer and just painted matt black what is supposed to be black on the aircraft. Some masking ahead for metallics! 6 1
Dennis_C Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 Painted with aluminium mixed with some dull aluminium. Idea is to make some panelneffect using Dead Design masks for various hatches. Also ailerons were painted in aluminium so also should be a bit more dull. Tomorrow I hope to paint it aluminium and that is straight road to finish! 5
Dennis_C Posted October 26 Author Posted October 26 (edited) Applied Dead Design masks. More or less fitting okay but smaller ones might be not exactly to shape. Anyway let's see later today how that works. Major challenge shall be not to forget to remove all of them later on Edited October 26 by Dennis_C 4
jean Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Hi Dennis, impressive workmanship. Your Hien is starting to look like one. Almost there. JR 1
