So I haven’t if these in the stash. I shall definitely build one and may do both for the GB

IMG-3939.jpg

Bits in the box a pretty straightforward kit but nice and the price at €17.99 was definitely right.

IMG-3941.jpgJust have to do an Ambush scheme.

IMG-3940.jpgBut I’m also taken with this, just not sure if it’s a Leo scheme of a world of tanks whif…

This is also a strong possibility, one of the panthers disguised as M10 tank killers.

The old Tamiya Panther. Been around a long time and is till made. Most of the shops I buy from usually have one in stock of this popular subject.

Not as good as the more recent offerings but still decent enough to satisfy most and a good blank canvas if you want to fuss over details.

German armour is not my usual interest but every time I see one of these kits on the shelf I am very tempted to pick up just because.

cheers, Graham

Options, options, what to do? :hmmm:I can hear @Enzo the Magnificent coming along with sage advice already

Those are cool options and I'd struggle to pick any one from the three you have there.

Is it going to be a Panther wearing a disguise?

IMG-3974.jpgI think that’s the sheet metal complete apart from the side skirts and a little filling and sanding at the joints. I also need to round off the lower  edge  of the glacis plate.

Yes it’s the so called Ersatz M10

Shaping the bow. The lower sides may need to be a little deeper.

IMG-3974.jpg

Turret sheet metal added. Needs a little trimming.

IMG-3975.jpg

Exhausts drilled and fittted.

IMG-3977.jpg

Replacement hatch added.

Second (first?) Panther almost assembled.

Next step handles, hooks, lifting eyes etc then we’re ready for paint.

The comparison Panther is a great illustration of what changes were made to disguise the Ersatz M10 :speak_cool:

I also have an M10 in the collection so I’ll probably break that out for the final photos too.

Wheel mask designed. PM me if anyone would like one I'll charge postage and a nominal fee (I'll weigh the finished article to see how much it's costing me)  to cover time and materials.

Love the 'M10' build. Probably the best thing you can do to the flawed but very wonderful old Tamiya Panther!

Side skirts on the Ersatz M10. Hooks, brackets, handles on both. Now ready for primer.

IMG-3983.jpgAnd done along with 48 road wheels. The Ersatz M10 needs a bit of remedial work but nothing huge. For some reason that took an age.

In case you’re wondering it’s an old cutting board and it’s also covered in double sided sticky tape so once I’ve finished painting it should clean up easily.

Turret trimmed and repaired.

IMG-3987.jpgMy backend wasn’t even close so after some surgery and a bit of plastic sheet it’s now correct.

Green in the Ersatz M10 went for standard German camouflage green as I reckoned the painters would have used what was to hand and didn’t have anything closer to US olive drab.

That makes sense.
