Marklo Posted September 3 Posted September 3 So I haven’t if these in the stash. I shall definitely build one and may do both for the GB Bits in the box a pretty straightforward kit but nice and the price at €17.99 was definitely right. Just have to do an Ambush scheme. But I’m also taken with this, just not sure if it’s a Leo scheme of a world of tanks whif… This is also a strong possibility, one of the panthers disguised as M10 tank killers. 16
ColonelKrypton Posted September 3 Posted September 3 The old Tamiya Panther. Been around a long time and is till made. Most of the shops I buy from usually have one in stock of this popular subject. Not as good as the more recent offerings but still decent enough to satisfy most and a good blank canvas if you want to fuss over details. German armour is not my usual interest but every time I see one of these kits on the shelf I am very tempted to pick up just because. cheers, Graham 3
Col. Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Options, options, what to do? I can hear @Enzo the Magnificent coming along with sage advice already Those are cool options and I'd struggle to pick any one from the three you have there. 2 1
Marklo Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 Broke out the second Panther kit just now and it’s identical even down to the price I paid €17.99😃 2
Marklo Posted September 7 Author Posted September 7 Ok decided in which Panther to build l, can we guess where this is going?😃 5
Marklo Posted September 8 Author Posted September 8 I think that’s the sheet metal complete apart from the side skirts and a little filling and sanding at the joints. I also need to round off the lower edge of the glacis plate. 2 hours ago, Col. said: Is it going to be a Panther wearing a disguise? Yes it’s the so called Ersatz M10 6
Marklo Posted September 8 Author Posted September 8 Shaping the bow. The lower sides may need to be a little deeper. Turret sheet metal added. Needs a little trimming. Exhausts drilled and fittted. Replacement hatch added. Second (first?) Panther almost assembled. Next step handles, hooks, lifting eyes etc then we’re ready for paint. 7
Col. Posted September 8 Posted September 8 The comparison Panther is a great illustration of what changes were made to disguise the Ersatz M10 1

Marklo Posted September 9 Author Posted September 9 Wheel mask designed. PM me if anyone would like one I'll charge postage and a nominal fee (I'll weigh the finished article to see how much it's costing me) to cover time and materials.
IanC Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Love the 'M10' build. Probably the best thing you can do to the flawed but very wonderful old Tamiya Panther! 1
Marklo Posted September 9 Author Posted September 9 Side skirts on the Ersatz M10. Hooks, brackets, handles on both. Now ready for primer. And done along with 48 road wheels. The Ersatz M10 needs a bit of remedial work but nothing huge. For some reason that took an age. In case you’re wondering it’s an old cutting board and it’s also covered in double sided sticky tape so once I’ve finished painting it should clean up easily. 8
Marklo Posted September 10 Author Posted September 10 Turret trimmed and repaired. My backend wasn’t even close so after some surgery and a bit of plastic sheet it’s now correct. 9
Marklo Posted September 10 Author Posted September 10 That’s the panels and brackets for the Schurzen. 7
Marklo Posted September 10 Author Posted September 10 Brackets and plates assembled not sure if I need a sixth plate for each side. 7
Marklo Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 Back end primed. Needs a little filler but not bad overall. 3
Marklo Posted September 13 Author Posted September 13 Dark yellow on the Panther and Tamiya putty on the Ersatz M10 Dark yellow on the hull. Wheels ready to paint. 5
Marklo Posted September 15 Author Posted September 15 Recycling photos 😀Turret back on the Panther, Ersatz M10 sanded dnd primer touched up, ready for dark green… 4
Marklo Posted September 15 Author Posted September 15 Green in the Ersatz M10 went for standard German camouflage green as I reckoned the painters would have used what was to hand and didn’t have anything closer to US olive drab. 4
