Farmerboy Posted September 8 Author Posted September 8 All seats added along with the cockpit floor and centre console and glued to the fuselage half, glad to report no fit problems at all so far! Just a comparison on one of the kit options, the IP, moulded detail or decal, just got some clear varnish to add to individual dials so I know which one I’m going for!! 25
Beard Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I like that Airfix have given a choice of instrument panels and your painting of the raised detail one is lovely. 1 2
Rabbit Leader Posted September 9 Posted September 9 The decal would have been fine had they not plastered it with white borders around every instrument dial! I think your result looks so much better. Cheers and nice progress.. Dave 1 4
CedB Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Great detail painting on the i/p FB, excellent detailing 1 1
bigbadbadge Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Your IP painting is looking good, cracking work Chris 1 1
heloman1 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Well done with the painted IP, the decal version is just WRONG! I'm building the Phantom at present, the same problem! Colin 2 1
roy107 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Cracking work so far. Looks like this kit is as lovely as it first appears. 1
hendie Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Nice paint job on the instrument panel. Very detailed. FYI: for future reference, as far as I can recall, most of the instrument panels were a dark grey, as was the center console, and seatframes(?). The remainder of the cockpit was painted black. I'm happy to be corrected on that. 2 2

Farmerboy Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 Seeking an opinion from the great un-washed…..positive or negative, all welcome, trying to re-create a sheepskin cover and have used the protective cover from the decal sheet cut to shape, needs refinement, as does the rest of the cockpit but do you think it’s a goer??, or should I ditch the idea? 11
Wez Posted September 11 Posted September 11 In my experience on other SH platforms, the only time anything sheepskin looked like sheepskin was when it was new, it soon became matted and grubby 3 1 1
heloman1 Posted September 12 Posted September 12 For the scale, looks good to me. Colie Wessex Grubber. 1
NAVY870 Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Definitely not a fan of the twin engined Wallies but this build might convince me to get a couple. 1

Farmerboy Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 Thanks for the feedback lads, @Wez @heloman1, going to go with it and scruff it all up a bit, the addition of some seat belts will hopefully soften the effect.
Winnie Posted September 12 Posted September 12 1. Holy cow! Amazing build! 2. poo-poo... I need a couple of these!! 1
Keeff Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Well this is progressing well .... along with the lovely neat work and detail .... the IP especially! Keith ☺️ 1

Pete in Lincs Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Has anyone mentioned the plywood panels to protect the floor? Painted with mid grey anti slip. (Add sand 😀) They had cutouts for the tie down rings and the gun mount. 1 1 1 1

It’s too late for that now!!! When Airfix upgrade this to 1/48th that will be a definite addition, but of course I’d expect pictorial evidence of such things.😜 3
