Nice work on the cockpit.

The Tamiya Spitfire is a great kit, one of my favourites to build. I did 3 at the same time once. It actually went better than I could have hoped in that I finished them all.

Wow! That's rather impressive (and heavy on the wallet!!! 😮 )

Many years ago I was given some good advice about weathering.

At some point you will think "that looks great.  It just needs a little bit more."   That's when you stop!   :)

That sounds like sound advice. Noted. Thank you!

Really nice work mate, that IP in particular looks very good.

Thanks Craig  I was tempted to go the Quinta route, but as the scale get larger, the price follows suit. Hence, I opted for OOB and will probably lose sight of most of it once the fus halves come together

I decided to go with the manual and put some bigger parts together (after all the smaller cockpit parts). These are now ready for when the harness is installed and the cockpit / fus comes together. May have been just me being over cautious, but they took a lot longer than expected! Anyhow, done now; and the metal parts allowing the movement are just brilliant!!

More big parts; in fact, the biggest! Not sure how much of this will be seen, but I've followed the paint guide. Oh, and if you build one of these, don't fix this brace before the smaller half of the wheel wells are fitted

Sorted quick enough as I spotted the error of my ways.

Hi Toby,

Yep, with the weather turning, and no GP, I've spent most of the weekend at the bench :headphones:

Thanks Craig

I think I know that my Mrs. has lots of decorating lined up for the winter months (she knows I won't do it when the Sun is outside) hence I'm binging at the bench at present!!

Looking superb so far, really nice to watch how this goes together. I have quite a bit of decorating on my list that I’ve been dragging my feet on, so I’m a little reticent about starting my own 1/32 Spitfire! Think it will be one of Colin Gray’s desert Mk.IXs when I finally get to it.

No seat harness delivery today so the wing is now complete (unless the primer says otherwise) and I'm starting the engine

Looks simple enough. 😂 Very fine progress on one of Tamiya’s finest, Nigel. You’re not dissuading me of the notion to build mine some time soon!

Thanks Gents.

I'm heading into the office today so there won't be much happening to this  :unamused:

Hopefully the harness arrives with you soon Nigel but you're making great progress on other sections of this project in the meantime :)

Thanks Col  It’s great to be able to build various sections separately, keeping the momentum going.

Talking of separate sections, this is a kit all of its own! Not even looked at the bay frames yet :tmi:

There no shortage of detail in the engine components.

Hi Craig, Thank you  I've just been laid up with an Achilles injury so that will hopefully equate to even more time at the bench (albeit with my foot up) 🤞

Thanks Steve  I’m hoping the belts arrive today. I can then put the larger pieces together.
