wimbledon99 Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Hi All, I've spent enough time looking at the parts. Seems a fitting time to get stuck into this one. Just hoping I'll be able to do it justice! 24 1
Col. Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Having seen your work on the F-16 I know what you're capable of with a 32nd scale kit Nigel and have every confidence you'll do it justice. 2 1
Wings unlevel Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) I’m sure you will too, Nigel. I have the Mk VIII in the stash which I’m contemplating having a go at in the Spitfire GB next year, so will watch with interest. Edited August 23 by Wings unlevel 1
81-er Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Ooh, that's going to be a lovely kit to build, Nigel, I'm sure you'll make an excellent job with it James 1

I almost hit the button on the MK VIII as I liked the box art, but there's also an option for this one in 'brown' On 22/08/2025 at 09:38, 81-er said: Ooh, that's going to be a lovely kit to build, Nigel, I'm sure you'll make an excellent job with it James Thanks James. wimbledon99 Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 I'm now on leave for a couple of weeks and hoping to complete my Hurricane over the next few days as I'm going away next week. Anyhow, whilst a few painted Hurri bits are drying, I thought I'd get this prepared so I can start when back. There's a lot of plastic to wash!! 14
modelling minion Posted August 27 Posted August 27 (edited) A fine choice Nigel and I have no doubt that you will do her the justice she deserves. Any thoughts on what scheme she will be in? Edited August 27 by modelling minion 1
wimbledon99 Posted August 28 Author Posted August 28 Morning Craig, I’m leaning towards scheme B as I quite like the ‘Brown’ camo, but I also like the clipped wing of ‘C’. 🤔 I had planned to build it OOB but as I want to show the engine, I’ve ordered the Barracuda Rolls Royce rocker covers and the Quickboost exhausts ports. Oh, and whilst at it, the Quickboost door and cannons 3 1

wimbledon99 Posted September 9 Author Posted September 9 Hi All, Now that my Hurricane is complete, I thought I'd make a start on this. Bit of a boring pic, but lots of bits on sticks (some small sub-assemblies) ready for primer and colour. I also had some goodies arrive in the post yesterday 13
Col. Posted September 10 Posted September 10 A start has been made and more aftermarket brought in - all good Nigel 2
2996 Victor Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Lots of Tamiya and aftermarket goodness - this is going to be one to watch! Cheers, Mark 1 1
wimbledon99 Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 Thanks Mark, Nothing like a bit of pressure 2

wimbledon99 Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 I've managed to put some colour on parts on sticks, put some together, and added a light wash (still wet in photos). There are a few new parts on sticks for the side walls then I should be able to assemble the cockpit in it's entirety. However, I wasn't mad on using the etch belts so I've ordered the Kits World 3D Sutton Harness. I may have to go off-piste, jump a few pages forward, and start the engine build if the delivery delays the cockpit Having just built the Arma 1:48 Hurricane, I have to wonder if their 'engineering' was inspired by Tamiya; there are similarities in the design of the fit, and construction of parts 14 1
Col. Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Everything is looking good Nigel. With the new harness in place it'll all come together quickly. 2
wimbledon99 Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 Thanks Col I wasn't sure whether to go with a heavier wash, but I'll see what this one looks like when dry and go again if need be.

Perhaps a little heavier on the lower components if any at all? There's not a lot to been seen inside a Spitfire cockpit once everything is in place and closed up even with the hood and door open. 1
modelling minion Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Really nice work mate, that IP in particular looks very good. 1

Many years ago I was given some good advice about weathering. At some point you will think "that looks great. It just needs a little bit more." That's when you stop! 2 2
FG2Si Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Nice work on the cockpit. The Tamiya Spitfire is a great kit, one of my favourites to build. I did 3 at the same time once. It actually went better than I could have hoped in that I finished them all. Carl 3
