Courageous Posted September 23 Author Posted September 23 The Hurri is on its legs and everything has been primed. Stuart 11
Wings unlevel Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Very neat indeed! I’m looking forward to the base coat going down.
Beard Posted September 23 Posted September 23 It looks most excellent. You'd never know the upper wings came from another kit. 1 2
Rabbit Leader Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Great to see all these Hurricane builds assembled and in primer coats. The lovely details of these kits are being well and truly highlighted. Nice progress. Cheers.. Dave 2
Courageous Posted September 29 Author Posted September 29 I have never been any good at mixing paints, so I wasn't going to start now, near enough will do. To that end, I delved into the the boxes of paint and searched for blues and came up with Humbrol 14 Gloss French Blue. The wheels were painted AK German Grey with aluminium centres. Blades were painted with white tips, lightly sanded before Humbrol Trainer Yellow was applied, masked and painted AK Flat Black. Just got to wait for blue to fully cure before decals. Before that, I've got to source a suitable gold(?) from the LMS as the one I have is to bright. Stuart 10
Wings unlevel Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Love it - that is a luscious, lustrous blue. You’re on the way to a gorgeous looking model I reckon. 1
Courageous Posted October 1 Author Posted October 1 @Wings unlevel @Beard @Chuck1945 cheers guys, much appreciated. A good match was found at my LMS. Before painting the spinner, I carried out a little experiment with the paint and primer base colours of white, grey and black, grey was the best and the spinner was painted with AK 3G Old Gold. Blades added to spinner and exhausts painted with MIG Burnt Iron. And the decals go on lovely, the only issue is getting the decal to form over the cannon bulges, so that's being sorted...hopefully. Not to far from finish line. Stuart 7 1

Courageous Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 For some reason I've never been able to get a good gloss coat and it shows here. I'm calling this done now and just neds to be fixed to a base and it'll go in the gallery. Thanks to all who have looked, liked and commented. Stuart 7 2

Including this one, I think I have 14 racers/ speed planes and I may make a feature of them at Telford...and then you can get me a pint. 8 hours ago, Nick McV said: That looks fantastic.
