As mentioned elsewhere, I revised my plans for this GB, to have a go at something that should be easier to paint and won't require worrying about swing wings, replacement bits etc.  So instead I am building an AModel Jetstream to replace the Magna T.2, built about four years ago, that has developed terminal undercarriage droop (oh-er missus! To keep @CedBhappy). I have built Amodel MicroMir kits before and so know what to expect  (The Unexpected according to the cover of the Hitch-Hikers Guide)

Welcome to the GB Martin, the Jetstream is a great aircraft and was a very common sight for a long time in the UK in both RAF and RN service. Not a kit I remember seeing built before so I am very keen to see how you get on.

Welcome to the GB, Martin, nice to have you with us :D Nice to see the Jetsteam too, not one I see built very often

Thanks, I haven't seen that many Jetstreams around, but it is something I always associate with airshows of the 1980s and 90s.

This is a great project @Mr T!  The thing that bothers me about this kit is the thickness/opacity of the pax windows and the fuselage thickness.  Happily, if you have the Airfix Jetstream windows, you'll find that they fit perfectly, saving you the trouble of tediously fitting each ill-fitting clear part in place.  If you want, you can do what I plan to do on mine and cut/replace the forward fuselage and install the more accurately shaped Airfix nose and cockpit.

Interesting to watch it coming together - I have Sova-M box of the same aircraft and would be nice to see the potential pitfalls.

Might be a little while before this gets started, as other kits (BP111A, Grebe and Sea Hurricane) are in the queue ahead of the Jetstream. Not helped by being away twice in the last week and a bit and we will going on holiday at the beginning of September.

Who do you think you are with all those holidays, Martin, @Fritag;)

Enjoy the break :)

One was an overnighter when our daughter came up. Went to Whitby, stayed in Scarborough (very nice fish and chip tea, something the York and Lincs coast does does much better than the South) and Filey on the way home. The other was a last minute trip to stay with MrsT sister when they were up in Derbyshire. Our September holiday is Interailing to Lake Constance (a visit to the Dornier Museum?), returning via Mulhouse (SNCF museum, repute biggest railway museum in Europe, I think a Crampton is there, a fascinating early steam engine design).

Thanks, first time we gave done this, travelled on plenty of European trains, so some idea what to expect. A bit nervous about DB, they are not doing well at present, probably because they have been infected by their Arriva purchase.

Back from an excellent holiday, my worries about DB wee largely unfounded. Some trains ran late, but the surprisingly good DB app meant we could check trains and redo our Interrail tickets on the go. Cooked breakfast at our seat on the way down to London and lunch with wine on the Eurostar. I have started work on the Jetstream, just not done enough yet to make it worthwhile putting pictures up.  Some cockpit photos have given a better idea of colours, and so some more progress soon. I will also have a train to catch in the next week or so.

I have the the wing and tail halves together and currently painting the interior after finding somevclear photos online. AModel colour instructions seem pretty reasonable.

I'm also glad your holiday went well, Martin. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress photos when you feel you've got enough to show us

Movement on the Jetstream. The interior painted and assembled. The fit in the fuselage is not good. I think the width of the cockpit parts is greater than that of the space they are supposed to fit into. It took me a whole evening, plus a bit more, to get it to fit in and butcher the instrument panel to get it everything to fit.

the next update will show a Jetstream shaped object, there are a lot of little bits to go on the model, few of which have any indication on the airframe as to where they are supposed to go.

You definitely won the fight with closing it up, Martin. As Craig mentioned, there's no sign of any struggle looking at it there

A Jetstream shaped aircraft at last. The parts' fit is not wonderful in places and the cockpit transparency is too tall by about 1.5 mm. after a bit of fettling it is in place and sort of level, but fairing it in looks fun (not). Anyway, it is coming together and near a stage when a first coat of primer can be sprayed on.

She's looking good, Martin. Hopefully it isn't too hard to get the canopy faired in

The canopy is more or less level on the fuselage, but there are gaps. Going to make a start on it tonight.

This is looking great, Martin, and duly noted on the canopy--thanks for the heads-up.  How did you get the passenger windows to come out looking so clean and smooth?

They are not on yet. I wanted to get the fuselage cleaned up. Thi may be an error, but we shall see.

No photos as weather has been against me, but progress with the Jetstream. It has been primed and filled and the upper surfaces in white primer. White not being  my favourite colour I am going to use some Tamiya spray white spray as I have had some very good results with their red and yellow. The main issue being being that I have to go and buy some.
