Mein Gott... now to figure out which F-14 gets built first. I'm thinking F-14D.

Decisions, decisions.

Motor bike is a good shout. I’ve been meaning to build one for awhile now…

Well this has gone from an idea to an active GB proposal in a week so thanks to all who have been supportive and to @Enzo the Magnificent for providing the final clearance.

As I said at the beginning, the choice of not just subjects but categories is endless so it will be great if we can have the cars, motorbikes, ships, figures and toys to go with the usual tanks and planes. The expression 'build em all' come to mind! lets see what we can do

The Big H has 36 pages of choice in case any Britmodeller suddenly finds themselves short. Other suppliers available

@Colin W  @Mjwomack

The next thing we have to discuss is eligibility.  Will this GB be open to anything in a Tamiya box?  Or will it be kits produced originally by Tamiya?

The 1/35 Crusader tank and 1/72 F-4S Phantom were originally by Italeri and just reboxed by Tamiya.  Both the 1/48 and 1/72 Ju-87 kits are also Italeri.

With the 1/72 FW-190D we would need to be careful.  The 1995 release was reboxed Italeri.  The 2000 release was new tool Tamiya.

I believe that an easy way to tell for the 1/72 aircraft is the box art.  If it is a non-Japanese subject with a photo of the built up model then it's originally Italeri.  If it has a painting of the subject, then it's pure Tamiya.  The 1/72 Mosquitos and F4D Skyray are exceptions to this rule.

Hi, while the purist might argue for only Tamiya, I think for simplicity we allow anything in a Tamiya box. At least it will cut out a lot of traffic to Scalemates

You are going to build a Yamamoto while on a camping holiday? No carpet monster to worry about, which is a plus. The field monster is another matter.

There's quite enough of that being generated by the Lesser Known Classics GB! Thinking of which, and the fine work Mark @2996 Victor is doing as Keeper of the List for it, do we have a 'volunteer' to compile a Buld List for this epic? :please:

There are boxings with and without the DAK figures. Those, on the other hand, are also available separately, #35037.

Jadam have notified of its impending dispatch, I guess I could say that they're currently embarking for the short sea crossing to North Afrika!

You're going to use Tamiya acrylics to paint a portrait of the great man?

I guess that is a simpler explanation (Occam's razor and all that)

After the Carpet Monster came the Canvas Monster and then the Meadow Monster, it's turning into quite the franchise.

Shunsaku had a huge impact on the modelling hobby, driving standards of detail and buildability that became seen as the benchmark for other companies to aim at.

I wouldn't say that this includes reboxes of other companies like Italeri. So only original Tamiya kits should qualify.

I can see that approach. Conversely though if Tamiya was happy to put her his name to it, I guess he thought it good enough

Also, even Tamiya steadily improved; compare the original panther tank with the newer one, so the 'strays' are part of the 'journey'

And, self-interest time, as Colin @Colin W has said keeping it simple saves a lot of host time on validity questions. Don't get me wrong, we hosts love doing it, but many a true word spoken in jest about being voyeurs and not having much time for modelling. Which is also a little plug for more host volunteers welcome 😁

Blimey, this is a surprise! But, it's starting the day after my birthday, so that's a nice time to get properly stuck in over the weekend! As I'm on holiday in the middle of September, I'm going to go for a simple build of a Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R. I already have the kit and a bottle of Midnight Purple paint. I've also got a set of Rays Volk Racing 21Cs and tyres already modelled that will really suit this :nerdy:

This will also be a nice change to most of my ongoing builds, which are at the point of requiring a lot of complex CAD work to chassis and suspension. :boom: Hopefully this will be a quick win! :fingerscrossed:

As is the F-84G (according to Scalemates). 😀

This is a really nice thing to do, for me timing is wrong. I am on a must-finish-one-kit-in-a-GB-this-year mission, latest start has pushed the SoD to overflowing, all (most) of which I do want to finish.

This seems like a good excuse to build one of the dozen or so Tamiya Jugs in the closet.
