Colin W Posted August 6 Posted August 6 We have all had a lot of fun over the years building Tamiya models so were saddened by the death in on 18th July of Shunsaku Tamiya, son of founder Yoshiro Tamiya and Chairman of the Board of Tamiya Corporation. As a way of showing our appreciation it would be great if we had a 'Tamiya Group' build of the kits he helped create for us over the years. Naturally this would be any subject, genre, scale or type. Ships, planes, cars, motorbike, racing cars, figures, tanks, dinosaurs, animals, guns, take your pick. Predominantly plastic models but also there were several ranges of motorised walking animals and educational 'toys' which can also count. Use of other paints, glue and masking is optional. I would suspect the vast mayority of us have several kits in the stash available. The RC cars and slot cars might be a stretch for Britmodeller but lets see. Who wants to join? Colin Well we are at 25 after 3 days here so I'd better make a list of interested parties. 1 @Colin W - Host 2 @Corsairfoxfouruncle 3 @Keeff 4 @hakkikt 5 @Marlin 6 @Marklo 7 @psdavidson 8 @ToE1984 9 @Mjwomack - Host 10 @Pedro52 11 @paul-muc 12 @2996 Victor 13 @SnøMotion 14 @Dennis_C 15 @StuartH 16 @TonyW 17 @ColonelKrypton 18 @gwyndaffandy 19 @Parabat 20 @Bullbasket 21 @dnl42 22 @theplasticsurgeon 23 @Ray S 24 @Retired Bob 25 @Jabba 26 @Alex.B 27 @Toryu 28 @Karearea 29 @Morantbay 🏁 30 @Jb65rams 4 1
Keeff Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Well as I actually have some kits in the not-a-stash stash, I'll put my head over the parapet! Keith ☺️ 2
Marlin Posted August 6 Posted August 6 I'm game. Just picked up this beauty in Scarborough on my holiday to York. 20250801_193822 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr /Bosse 4
Marklo Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Absolutely count me in. Lots of Tamiya in the stash a nice 1/48 skyraider a 1/72 Cutlass and lots of armour. 2
psdavidson Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Sign me up. I thought Tamiya would have been second in the stash count after Airfix, but they're only 4th which seems strange somehow 1
Colin W Posted August 6 Author Posted August 6 Well that's encouraging, 6 in 1 hour. 1 hour ago, psdavidson said: in the stash count after Airfix, but they're only 4th Thats probably because you keep building them? 1 hour ago, Marlin said: picked up this beauty in Scarborough on my holiday to York. Pedro52 Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Count me in, several suitable motorcycle kits in the pile, not adverse to buying more. 🤣 1 3
paul-muc Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Yes. Either Jaguar Mk II or Ferrari 360. Sorry, no more Tamiya kits in the stash. 1
Bullbasket Posted August 7 Posted August 7 This sounds like something that would definitely interest me, so count me in. John. 1
SnøMotion Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Got loads of options for this, so it’d be rude not to Martin 2
Dennis_C Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I think I should join too. Tamiya makes great products - not so many 1/72 aircraft kits, but their putty, compound, masking tape, glue, weathering powders, paints, varnishes and some instruments such as twizzers - I use all that. I do not have a single Tamiya kit in stash but always wanted a Skyray. So.... 2
Mjwomack Posted August 7 Posted August 7 @Colin W it seems to me there are two options at this point; start a list and lobby hard. Lobby hard for @Enzo the Magnificent to declare it a 'special' for 2026 As I said previously (so don't double count me) I'm in for this. 1
Enzo the Magnificent Posted August 7 Posted August 7 23 hours ago, Marklo said: a 1/72 Cutlass Are you sure about that? Is it not the Fujimi kit? Or maybe Rareplanes...

TonyW Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I'm up for it. I forsee a bit of an "I'm Spartacus" thing happening here. Loincloths optional. 1 4
