Continuing,

Top seam smoothed out, paying attention to panel lines a bit more on this build.

Wing is drying. Tried to get the seams as tight as possible. Looking for minimal filler work.

And just like that the big beast is in one piece!

Maybe I'll even have time to finish this and pull the Revell kit out. 🤪😜🤪

Easy GL,  lotta work still to do here. 😀

Couple of parts attached.

Air filter, horizontal stab, and rudder assy.

The clear side cowling pieces were put in place to insure air filter was in the correct alignment.

The side cowling pieces are not designed to be removeable. Ill just tack them on for painting.

When all of this dry, Ill mask and apply filler, then sand for paint prep. It will be a couple of days, I ha e a couple of night shifts to work.

It's starting to look like a Hurricane.

Going to need a bit of filler for the stab joint.

20250904_103457

Taped it up to see if it will hold with minimal gap to fill. The bottom looks pretty tight.

Back in a day or two.

Trying to keep up with all the builds going on. Some nice work being done on all these builds.

Thanks to everyone following and commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Doesn’t look like there’s anything too gaping too fix up. It really is looking good so far.

A little progress.

A bit of weathering on the wheels

Built out the rest of the gear bay, a touch of paint and weathering.

There’s some nice details in those wheels. And some nice, subtle but effective weathering there.

I'm using panel liner paint for a lot of the weathering.

It's pretty forgiving to work with, which is just what I need.

As John Cleese said after having been turned into a newt,

I'm getting better.

This is a great thread of what appears to be a great big kit. There’s a lot going on and a lot to like as well. Nice work.
Cheers.. Dave

Thanks Dave,  this kit feels more like an old 1/32 kit going together, but a little bigger.

Thanks Franz,

The engine had adequate details, but the kit design hides a lot of stuff. Not sure what the designer was thinking.

It's an enjoyable build despite those issues.

Small items worked on today, nothing exciting.

Got the airscoop attached a bit better, it's going to need a touch of seam filler.

Put the gunsight pieces together, after crawling around on the floor again looking for the lens that jumped out of my hands all on its own. It's attached now so hopefully it will stay where it's supposed to. Tacked the Starboard crash out panel in place

Sanded and fit the main landing gear attachment points. They fit pretty well.

The main gear has a small tab that fits into the hydraulic actuator arm eyelet.

That little hydraulic part was a wee bit of a pain to get into place.

3 hands would have helped, but I managed with the 2 I have

Not glued at this point. Just getting it fitted. The airfix kit was a bit of a pain to get the gear to fit. Thought I better get on this now rather than later.

Everything is pushing towards getting some exterior paint applied.

My crystal ball says the bottom is not far from getting some color.

These are exciting times we live in.

GL getting some paint sprayed. 😃

Who knew that modelling could be good for maintaining strength and flexibility. 😂

Who has time for potential Armageddon when there’s a model to be built! Indeed, faced with Armageddon we should be trying to build all the models we can!

Wise words my friend.

At 63 I feel all those aches and pains a 2nd time from a well spent youth running amuck.

@glwanabe The designer was drinking the night before. Nice progress—excellent work!

I’m a bit surprised by the lack of detail in the wheel bay. At this scale, I was expecting more. It seems the manufacturer may have cut a few corners. On a smaller scale, like 1/72, you can simplify details, and no one will mind, but here they really make a difference. That said, despite my comments, it’s still a great piece of work.

Ya know, I do need to think about where I'm gonna display these beast as they are completed.  There's always the ceiling and setting up a squadren formation.

It will look better on the shelf, but it is quite big. I will try to build a 1/24 scale model one day.

Time to quit scrutinizing and move forward. We've done enough filler and sanding. It'll be be fine.

We'll shoot the medium sea grey bottom, and see how she looks.

The medium sea grey is just slightly more green than the grey primer. I'm happy enough with it at this point. I'll  let it dry completely, but I dont think there will be much to correct.

One day off today and back to night shift tomorrow.  Will be next week and I'll work on the upper surfaces paint.

Forgot to shoot the cannon pods. Need to get on that.

Not many parts left on the sprues. Mainly some small detail pieces.

Thanks for looking and following this journey.
