Ingram Posted July 31 Posted July 31 So I found this image, of what looks to be a GBU-12 tripple rack on an A-10. And I just love how menacing it looks. Does anyone know what the exact name of this rack is. Or even better if there's any version of it in 1:72 scale available?
Blue Monday Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Given that this A-10 is fitted with an air data boom, this might be a test flight in this configuration and it’s not yet released to the fleet. Probably not available yet in any scale. BM. 1
Steve McArthur Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Here's the article that originally carried that photo. It's from 2013 about envelope expansion with the center fuel tank. The GBU-12s are probably hung on standard TERs that have been around since Vietnam. Laser only LGBs don't need any sort of smart weapons pylon. The tail code ET is Eglin AFB that does a lot of weapons clearance testing for the USAF. 1 2
Ingram Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 Thank you two! @Steve McArthur so it might just be a TER-9/A rack? From what I gathered those could hold GBU-12 and they would be compatible with an A-10? The shape looked slightly different in that photo, but it might just be the angle.
Ingram Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 As it seems the BRU-42 are the most likely version for this. I think I will go with this one for now. Unless anyone has a better insight!

bentwaters81tfw Posted July 31 Posted July 31 As long as you don't hang Mavericks on the triple pylon on stations 3 and 9. There was a tendency to burn the tyres. Free fall or LGB should be no problem though. Only stations 5,6 & 7 were plumbed for fuel. That SF tank looks to be different to the original tank, which was the same as carried by the F-111 1

In the photo and article linked above, I have to assume that it was part of the clearance for the new tanks in general that the folks at Eglin were flying it with a bunch of weapons as well. If you know what you're looking for, they pop up in photos all over the place of A-10s now. Cheers, Hoops 2 1
