Pete in Lincs Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Enzo, I hope you don't mind. You can't get much more inspiring than this. What if you found a Hurricane in a scrap yard... 9 1

Rabbit Leader Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Just the one previous Hurricane build from me, however with a little luck I should be able to double my collection by November. This is the well known new tooled 1/48 Airfix kit in the markings of (one of) Josef Frantisek’s Battle of Britain mounts, the Gloster built R4175 (Note - bright, rather than dull roundels, particular to this manufacturer). Cheers.. Dave 13 4

theplasticsurgeon Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Tim's previous Hurricane builds. Hopefully in some sort of chronological order. Airfix 1/72 Hurricane Ia, RAF 111 Squadron, this is a pre-war fabric wing aircraft. Airfix 1/72 Hurricane Ia. RAF 85 Squadron, Battle of France, another fabric wing. Airfix 1/72 Hurricane Ia. RAF 615 Squadron, Battle of Britain, again fabric wing. Airfix 1/72 Hurricane Ia. RAF 1 Squadron. Airfix 1/48 Hurricane Ia, RAF 605 Squadron. On 7 Oct 1940 S/L Archibald McKellar shot down 5 Messerschmitts to become an Ace in a Day. Airfix 1/48 Hurricane Ia. RAF 501 Squadron. F/O Ken MacKenzie downed a Messerschmitt by knocking its tail off with his wingtip in this aircraft. Same day as McKellar became an ace. These aircraft have mirrored camo patterns. Pegasus 1/48 Hurricane - the same Ken MacKenzie aircraft. Revell 1/72 Hurricane Ia - a very poor kit. FREE - but not worth my petrol to pick it up. Same model, later repainted as a Sea Hurricane. Revell 1/72 Hurricane IIb, RCAF 402 Squadron - this is a Hurri-bomber. Airfix 1/72 Hurricane IIc, RAF 1 Squadron night intruder. Heller 1/72 Hurricane IIc, RAF 253 Squadron nightfighter. Revell 1/72 Hurricane IIc desert. Airfix 1/72 Hurricane IID, RAF 6 Squadron - Flying Canopener. Airfix 1/72 Sea Hurricane IIc, Royal Navy FAA 760 NAS, HMS Ravager. Revell 1/72 Sea Hurricane, Royal Navy FAA 835 NAS, Airfix (ex Heller) Hurricane IIc BBMF kit, masquerading as a Ia of RAF 303 Sqdn. Novo (ex Frog) Hurricane IIc BBMF aircraft, representing 34 Sqdn RAF in the Far East. 10
TeeELL Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Airfix 1:72 NT Hurricane with Alley Cat ‘tin wing’ conversion. Representing a Yugoslavian aircraft captured by the Italians and refurbished as the Presentation aircraft for Mussolini: A ‘previous tooling’ Airfix 1:72 Hurricane with bits from a NT (which fitted surprisingly well!). Representing a 208 Sqn aircraft Airfix 1:72 NT with Alley Cat ‘tin wing’ conversion. Representing one of 2 29(F) Sqn ‘night fighter’ Hurricanes, supplementing the Blenheims. The Hurricanes proved ineffectual at night so were used for airfield point defence Aug/Sep 1940. The model bears the correct serial number but the ident letter is pure guesswork. ARMA Hobbies 1:72 kit Representing a 29(F) Sqn aircraft freshly collected from Brooklands during the second half of Aug 1939. The serial number is correct but whether the aircraft received the sqn designation letters YB cannot be verified. These aircraft were the very latest versions with VP propellors and the newer radio, they passed to 17 Sqn at the end of Sep 1939 when ‘29 was designated a night fighter squadron. ARMA Hobbies 1:72 kit. Representing 29(F) Sqn Hurricane RO@P (the war time code for the squadron) on the morning of 6 Sep 1939! Why so exact? Well, later that morning the aircraft suffered a landing accident and it ended up at the Cowley Repair facility - where it was photographed = the only know photograph of a 29(F) Sqn Hurricane. 12

Tim R-T-C Posted August 31 Posted August 31 I'm still trying to make enough space on my bench for a new Hurricane build, but a couple of photos of one I completed last year. An 85 Squadron night fighter at RAF Debden, 1941. The full post with some build pics too https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235148512-raf-night-fighter-hurricane-mk1-85-squadron-1941-sweet-aviationshelf-oddity/ 9
Dennis_C Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Might be a bit late to the party, but here is mine sole Hurricane from the Phoney War period of late 1939, stationed in France. Airfix 1/72 kit for sure. 7
stevehnz Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Just as well I checked because I hadn't posted any. My first ever was a the original Revell Mk I, about 60 years ago & long since deceased. The first when I came back to modelling was the new Airfix fabric winged Mk I in Finnish colours, more as restored that original. I think the next was the woeful new tool Mk IIc from about 2010 built as an Airfix club special IId boxing. A nice kit to build but just looked wrong. It will be replaced with an Arma one at some point. NOT this GB. Next along was another Airfix Mk I. I'd long fancied doing the one inside the cover of the old Profile Publications Mk I volume. A combination of kit decals & some Modeldecal prewar serial numbers brought me to this. That was it for a few years till I built the ex Sword, AZ Models kits as the mount of Kiwi phoney war ace Cobber Cain. This was later last year. A bit scary that 3 out of the 4 are fabric winged machines. something that obviously needs redressing. Steve 9
rob Lyttle Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Hi, Hurricane guys. Great to see the huge selection of styles and finishes on here. I'm not that big on military aircraft anymore and I've a total aversion to doing splodge camo schemes, but I found a couple of Hurricane options including this one belonging to the Rhodesian Air Training Corp... I found another view... So I did a Hurricane! Afraid I'm very light on photos of it, I guess I never did an RFI, but here she is nearing completion, just the prop and completion of the serial numbers to do. Must dig it out and take a few finished shots, if I can find it 6
glwanabe Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Just called it complete, my Airfix 1/24 classics Mark I BOB build. This was my first build in about 40 years. 3 1
