1/144 Academy (Minicraft) KC-135R USAF ***DONE***

Hi All,

 

For this group build I would like to join with the Academy (ex Minicraft) 1/144 kit of the KC-135R.

Will be OOB build except for probably the decals.

Good luck with your build. This is another type I’d love to have in 1/144 scale and this kit is probably the most buildable.

Some work done on this one after my holiday.

 

Fuselage is closed and sanded. Also did some sanding on the rear fuselage to thin the detail from the rear fuselage.

Wings and engines attached. Trying to blend in the engine pylons.

Some primer on the KC. Although I thinned the APU part it stands out quite a bit.

Got some color on this one. Hope to get the gloss coating on it tomorrow so decalling after the weekend,

Most of the decalling is done, only the tail decals left to do. Used some kit decals but mostly used the Caracal decals.

Tail decals done. Started some detail painting.

I built the AMT/Italeri 1/72 version in the same markings a few years back.

Have that kit still in the stash, looking for a good excuse to build it (or the E-3).

Will probably give some storage problems when it is finished I guess.

Have to build another one sometime to use the Arizona decals.
