AliGauld Posted July 4 Posted July 4 I've had this at the top of the pile since it was released recently. My only problem was which scheme to go for as I quite fancied the Irish Air Corps version. All green, well maintained and kept scrupulously clean, but my Nephew had other ideas. He is a huge fan of the Battle of Britain film and so I have had my orders to do this as the filming platform. I'll try and get started with this tomorrow. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair 17 1
bigbadbadge Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Ooooooo yeah as Randy said, looking forward to this one Alistair. Got one in the stash too, not sure what scheme to do though, might look to do one of the Aero Legends machines I see at Headcorn, they pass us close by where we park our cars for the brilliant Retros meets and take off just a bit further away, got some great video footage of ghe taxying and taking off, the noise is wonderful. I just had to get one. Chris 2 2 1

Cheers, Alistair Oh mate cars and planes, absolutely awesome, all we need is some trains and it would be a dream day. I am just waiting to see if any appropriate decals come out for any of them. 2996 Victor Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I've been eyeing up this kit as well, trying to think of an excuse for one so I'll pull up a chair, if I may. Great choice of scheme, as well! Cheers, Mark 1

Cheers, Alistair 2
Biggles87 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Following closely. Heven’t got one yet, but it won’t be long. I’m hoping that someone will come up with a conversion for the low rear canopy, then I will build the aircraft I was lucky enough to fly in 6 years ago. John. 🇺🇦 1 1

AliGauld Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 Ok, about time I got started properly here. Firstly there is some surgery required. And then a dry fit. There will be a tiny bit of blending required which will be down to me not being able to cut in a straight line even when it's made simple for me. I built up as many of the bits as I was comfortable with. Flung some primer around. Then some Interior Grey Green and when dry a little brush work. That will do for just now. There may be a little more when I surface tomorrow. A shout out to @bigbadbadge and @Paul Lucas for heading me in the right direction regarding the underside colour. Duck Egg Blue has been ordered up and will be here in time when I get to that stage. I'll also need to cut some masks for the codes. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair 19
bigbadbadge Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Looking good Alistair, excited about seeing this one. Thanks for the mention too Great progress fella Chris 1
AliGauld Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 Thanks Chris, You pointed me in the right direction so thank you. Codes designed and cut. I've just cut the letters without any outline boxes as I intend to paint white on the fuselage and then put the masks on and paint the rest of the colours. And I had time to get a little glue on. Still a couple of touch ups needed but certainly closer to gluing the tub together. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair 16 1

Biggles87 Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Looks like it’ll be a pretty quick job at the rate you’re going. Converting it to the low canopy version shouldn’t be all that difficult but I’m getting lazy in my old age, and my manual dexterity is not what it used to be. John. 🇺🇦 PS: Where’s the bread bin? 3 1
Marklo Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Nice. I really need to get one especially as it comes with the Air Corp scheme. It’ll sit nicely with my, Walrus, Brisfit, Lysander, Vampire and Gladiator. Hmm must get my Martynsyde finished too… 1 1
patjb Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Following this, but mine will be in Irish Air Corps markings. I like the green colour scheme in the box, but will I be tempted with the silver Irish Air Corps markings on the Xtradecal sheet.......resist buying them decals! 1 1

AliGauld Posted July 10 Author Posted July 10 Some more paint, glue and a wee wash. First time I've tried the UV Resin in the dial thing and rather pleased with the result. With that lot done I should manage to get her buttoned up tomorrow. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair 15 1

Cheers, Alistair Yep, ive been using UV resin for a while and it is great to use for IP glass i even use it to glue details on clear parts, and even canopy and alot of other things as long the UV light can reach the whole. 1
