jawaka Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I thought to pass on how I have had some fantastic results on my 1/43 cars. I've had so much help from this site . Maybe even too good with a mirror surface on 1/43, but I'll take that. It's a badger 200 mh. Maybe we use different techniques and what works for some may not work for others This is what works for me Like the quoted 99% of airbrush problems are due to not being fully clean. My model shop looked at it for me and despite not much use it had a lot of paint residues. So now I use it about twice a month and strip it for a clean each time I can't post photos as not on any sites, but tamiya do some small conical tips on a cotton- bud style stick which work well. I use these followed by some Wisdom interdental brushes: no wire , all soft plastic and white with soft blue plastic ridges along a shallow cone. These clean out the airbrush cone. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185815667151?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338703918&toolid=20006&customid=CjwKCAjwsZPDBhBWEiwADuO6y1ideAMu6h_1iAxoWzhEJ8Epr99r8kbUe6_FNTUo2cc_6Kvhm6_aChoCRcEQAvD_BwE|0AAAAADtppYe3_izjq7EWzazrZkqrmC5Db|CkAKCAjwjo7DBhBEEjAAVXqCqiFvZSc3hFTyZAUhDYZmLSAZtswqRo6x6kvXLNfAne8m2YX9aRoPIGOVNkMaAkS6&gclid=CjwKCAjwsZPDBhBWEiwADuO6y1ideAMu6h_1iAxoWzhEJ8Epr99r8kbUe6_FNTUo2cc_6Kvhm6_aChoCRcEQAvD_BwE&gbraid=0AAAAADtppYe3_izjq7EWzazrZkqrmC5Db&wbraid=CkAKCAjwjo7DBhBEEjAAVXqCqiFvZSc3hFTyZAUhDYZmLSAZtswqRo6x6kvXLNfAne8m2YX9aRoPIGOVNkMaAkS6 Having done the rattle cans for years I was using the same technique which worked for me: a couple of passes and then a third thicker pass. So I was withdrawing the needle for a similar heavier spray and although I was following videos, the coats just got too heavy to quickly. This time I forgot to withdraw the needle so had a fine spray but just continued and the coat built up to a superb finish and a thicker stronger coat I prefer enamels and for cleaning I was just squirting thinners through followed by water thinking that was cleaning as enamels are slower drying; obviously this was not doing a proper clean. I hope this does help at least person not to tear out chunks of hair!
