1/2000 scale RMS Mauretania

This is a modern reprint of a Micro Models paper model from the 1950s.  It's pre-coloured, just cut the pieces out and glue them together!

This is my attempt at the 1/144 Revell B-2B Spirit. The kit was originally released by Monogram as a "Snap-Tite" kit with no undercarriage I believe, but when Revell decided to re-box it they added an undercarriage. Unfortunately the plastic on the undercarriage sprue was extremely brittle on my boxing and broke up as I removed it from the sprue, so I ended up building wheels up after all  as explained in my build thread.

The kit represents one of the early flight test models before it was brought up to full late production standard.

And this is my Airfix 1/144 Saturn IB and is from a boxing re-released around 2012 to represent it as used in the SA-205 mission in October 1968 during which Apollo 7 made the first manned Apollo flight. The kit went together pretty easily except for the bottom section of the first stage which did not align very well, and as I explained in the build thread I have my doubts about the placement of some of the bits and pieces sticking out from the bottom of the second stage. Painting was problematic and I made a silly mistake with some of the decs, but I got there in the end. Here is a link to thread with more detailed photos.

It deserves to be photographed against a more suitable background but this will give you an idea of the result.

This is my entry for this GB. It is a VC-10 K3 refueling a Buccaneer and Tornado on their way to a target in Iraq during the Gulf War. The VC-10 is the Roden kit, the Buccaneer is the 1/144.co.uk kit and the Tornado is the Revell kit.

This is where my imagination took me with the opportunities the small scale offers. It isn’t a scale I have done made much in and I have been both surprised and slightly intimidated by the level of detail that is available in 1/144.
The two planes are from Revell, these are simple and show their age

The vehicles are from Pit-road and are simple to build but look very good when finished

The buildings are card offerings from Metcalfe and were a real revelation to me.
The figures came from Victrix and again were a pleasant surprise

Here is my 1/144 Eduard Avia B.534. I did one OOB for an Xmas Blitzbuild a few years back. For this one, I thinned trailing edges and cut and deflected control surfaces. I made my own masks for the roundels and 6E and E6 markings to see if I could do it at this scale and to have something more unique.

The markings are based on a photo of a training plane in a Profile Publications book.

IMG-7451.jpg

It's tiny. The IP decal was oversized and wouldn't stick so I used TET, which worked perfectly to wrap it down.
IMG-7452.jpg

I cut little metal tubes for the exhausts.
IMG-7453.jpg

Rigging was earphone wire. I tried nylon thread but kept breaking it.
IMG-7454.jpg

Pin wash with burnt umber oil. Broken skid replaced with stretched sprue.
IMG-7455.jpg

The macro photos show places I could improve. The kit came with four in the box. So, maybe by the last one I will finally get it all together 😛

Thanks to @Marklo for hosting.

Here's mine completed.  It's an old Dragon F16 kit in 1/144 scale with some 3D printed details (loader, tug, crew, ejection seat, ladder, and console).

Here is the build thread. If you think (as I do) that this model looks a bit rough and ready, a glance through the build thread will show you just how rough and ready was the basic material for this build! 🤣
