1/72 English Electric Lightning P.8 Conversion Kit

Hello all,

 

Its been a while since I completed the first build of this, but I am happy to say I am now offering it for sale to anyone interested.

 

 

 

RFI of my build here:

 

 

Kits are available for £20 + £3.50 p&p. For that you'll get a 1/72 3d resin printed airframe, with wingtip missile rails, exhaust nozzles, inlet cone and, vacuform canopies (plus spares). You will need to source an Airfix Lightning F2A or F6 (recent tool version) and I recommend fitting a Master metal pitot. Instructions are provided. I've deliberately omitted offering decals since this is a WhatIf and I felt people would have their own ideas of squadrons, colour schemes etc. Some very careful print support cleanup will be required, as well as surface prep since I prioritized dimensional accuracy for assembly (no one wants a wonky model).

A mate got one for me a week or so back and it's frankly awesome.  

 

Not touched it yet as I really don't know which Lightning scheme I want to use and I'm waist deep in Mosquitoes.

 

Any thoughts on the two seater?

Funnily enough, I was talking about this with Martin & Co on Sunday. At some point I intend to draw up the two seat cockpit. The intention being that it is a straight swap for the existing one. But I have other things I want to cover first.

Ah Mon General,

 

congratulations on a fine purchase, it will be duly packed and shipped by tomorrow.

 

On the subject of the AW.169, have you got a WIP/RFI on it? I know a couple of people have started/finished theirs, but I've only seen pics of Geoff's thus far.

Hi Stuart, thanks, I pretty much know what to expect so looking forward to it jumping to the top of the list soon after arrival. I'm very busy with work for AMW at the moment which includes the AW.169 so won't be doing an online WIP/RFI on that until it's published (an agreement with Key Publishing). No idea when that'll be I'm afraid, there's a long list to work through right now. Can't wait to see any future FT.155 projects you might have up your sleeve.

Hopefully catch up with you at Telford again.
