kajustas Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Finally after a long break I finished work on another model . This time it fell on the prototype model of the "Hornet" : YFA-18A Hornet FSD#3 (BuNo 160777) on the hangar deck of the aircraft carrier USS CARL VINSON from 1980. As a base I used a very “old” model of the F-18 HORNET from Italeria (No809) in 1:48 scale - according to Scalemates the year of production 1980 - so almost a peer of the original. This model is the closest to the original prototype - nevertheless, in my opinion, it needed valorization; so I enhanced it with AIRESA, Black Dog, Metallic Details and stand-alone scratch kit elements. The decals are a very good set of Caracal Models CD48158. While working on the model I was helped by the study “F-18 Hornet in detail & scale by Don Linn”. While working on the model, I decided to embed it on the hangar deck plate - add equipment and service personnel (for this purpose I used Hasegawa kit and 3d print elements) All painted with Bilmodel and Vallejo paints. So, I invite you to watch and evaluate the model: YFA-18 -prototype No. 3 during testing as part of the adaptation for aircraft carriers of the second half of 1980 .... 21 6 2

Thank you for such an opinion , especially since I have seen your work on F-16 and F-18 prototypes - they are really, really great. I have yet to do the same as your F-18 Prototype 1978 only that from Hasegawa in 1:32 scale .... and it will be just a challenge ... 1
mechanic86 Posted June 11 Posted June 11 There are a lot of details in each and every corner of this dio. I like the background story about the preparation of the second f18 prototype also! Great work 😀👍💯 1
