Hi

Just joined your group and interested to connect with others that also do scratch build.  I mainly focus on dioramas, although I did one ship (the SS Great Britain) also.  Here and there I would build a kit, I love to use materials in and around the house and to make the parts rather than to buy or print them.

Only doing it for about 4 years now, and still have much to learn.  You can see my modelling showcase here https://photos.app.goo.gl/XJLTAw2ebFGN5NrL9

Hi Leroux. I had a look at your site. There are some great dios on there, especially the cottage. I dabble in scratch building, now and again, mainly AFVs. Usually done in the form of a conversion, but I have 90% scratch built a couple of tanks in 1/48th scale.

Anyway, welcome to the site and enjoy your time here.

G'day @lerouxc, welcome aboard. I've just looked at your album, you have some nice scratch-builds there. What scale is the ship please? You could post photos of her in the Maritime RFI (Ready for Inspection) section, with a write-up on how you built her. Your other models are interesting too. I rather like the hut in the bathtub.

I'm mainly a ship modeler myself and prefer the 1/600 scale. This limits the range of kits available to me so I've scratch-built three ships to date from polystyrene, and plan on some more in the future. A long time ago I also scratch-built some houses, a fire station and a school for my son's train set. They were somewhat simple though. Even further ago I built some model ships out of balsa but these were mainly toys for my younger cousins, and hardly count. Do you have any more ships planned?

Regards, Jeff.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sending from the high plains of eastern New Mexico US. As you I've done a few scratch built dioramas. These were mostly aircraft in 1/72nd and 1/48th scale. Enjoy viewing your site and projects. Thank for showing you talent and again Welcome!!!

Hello lerouxc … :post1:  from across the pond from you in Chicago USA. I’ve been building since 1979 and nothing really makes me want to stop. I’ve slowed down in the last couple of years from health issues but thats about it. Personally I mostly build military aircraft, though will take on the odd piece of armor or the occasional ship now.
