And now something completely different ;)

My first ever venture into sailing vessels: Galway Hooker in 1/72 scale . It's a paper model by WAK with all their add-ons, fully painted. I dipped into my stash of veneer to further enhance the look of untreated wooden parts. I'm a firm believer of the theory that the ships DO get dirty, so my little Hooker looks like it was out and about for a while

I hope you'll enjoy it.

Hi Mick

A really nice model. Nice to see a model of a  historic working boat. In 1/72me scale of looks to be quite a small model, so credit where it is due, the extra detailing you have placed on the model really enhances the model.

My wife and I have a  close friend who comes from Galway and she has often asked if there is a model of a Galway Hooker. Visited Galway a few years back and saw a couple of restored Hookers out on the bay.

Up to now I was unaware that there was a model kit, even in catd. I will have to take a look at the WAK website if there is one. Also Marcle Models here in the UK who are card model specialists.

Little update to the Hooker. I've added reef lines, crew and some fish ;) Crew is from two separate White Stork's kits.

Looks fantastic Mick. There are card models and 'there is absolutely no way that can be card' models. This is one of the latter. Really astonishing work.

G'day, she certainly does. I hadn't realized at first that this was a card model, I thought it was wood. It's not what I would call a dynamic scene but is a superb representation of the way of life for thousands over the years. Very well done. Regards, Jeff.

I never in a million years would have thought this is a paper model and the rigging is fantastic.

Very nice indeed. The real boats are familiar sight for me whether either out in the bay or floating in the Claddagh Basin near Galway city centre.

I didn't realise there was a model available either although I was aware of WAK and their eclectic subjects.

OMG !

What an outstanding  and very IMPRESSIVE  and immaculately  done.

Your workmanship  is TOP NOTCH  and one would never have thought that this model was  made/constructed  in paper.

The Wood looks spectacular.

Well it , your  Galway Hooker , reminds ME of a sea shanti that MY Late Mom  loved..
