Brilliant news ! Should be the definitive kit of this ubiquitous turboprop (no doubt a 72 will follow....). The 2 previous attempts in this scale are poor. Hopefully the likes of 26 will oblige with a raft of decals, as it's largely escaped the decal makers attention so far.

At a reasonable price this bodes well for multiple builds especially if supported by the decal gurus as Roger says.

Ohhh... that might eventually make me deviate into 1/144 from 1/72 a little bit. Wanted to do a series of regional turboprops of different eras and ATR-42 was a missing part.

Wow,

Another great news this week..

X-Scale is ambitious...

Very cool! However I don't see why they won't include six-blade props to model the -500 and -600 variants which are most of the ATR's currently in service. Or am I overlooking other major differences?

Gated off right hand side of frame & 4 blade props on left hand side of frame - future ATR42- 400/500/600 to come with 6 blade props on the right hand side?

A huge clear part for the cockpit, nothing for the sides but small ones for the lights. Thanks for saving my money.

The Minicraft tooling style seems to never dies out.

Those look like extra prop blades to overlay the four blade hubs at left. Possible?

Could be. But also could be they just did not need as much parts on the sprue and just gated off unused area on the machine.

I think latter is a bit higher probability as spinners are not next to 4-bladed props while some other bits are around them so you can't gate off 4-bladed area of the sprue in the future. Possibly they just make a bigger sprue with both 4 and 6 bladed props?

Perhaps the separate blades and hubs are so you can build the props feathered, as they would be when the engines were shut down.

That's probably what's going on there Ben.

We could do with a peek at the destructions!

Separate blades are no doubt for feathered props. A nice touch!

Am I still obliged to build my F-resin one?

Only if you can work out how to thin down the fin!  It's the one reason I have never built an F-RSIN ATR 42 or 72. I'll probably cannibalise the couple in my stash for their decals and six-blade props.

I've long looked at a F-RSIN ATR-72 in Air New Zealand colours, I think you've put me off it now Dave, so I'm wondering, is the way this kit molded likely to lead to a -72 kit as well, it might be worth waiting for.

I must admit I haven't got as far as looking at the fin with regards it's quality. As we all know these kits have their challenges!
