Roger Holden Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Brilliant news ! Should be the definitive kit of this ubiquitous turboprop (no doubt a 72 will follow....). The 2 previous attempts in this scale are poor. Hopefully the likes of 26 will oblige with a raft of decals, as it's largely escaped the decal makers attention so far. 1 1
Britman Posted May 30 Posted May 30 At a reasonable price this bodes well for multiple builds especially if supported by the decal gurus as Roger says. Keith
Dennis_C Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Ohhh... that might eventually make me deviate into 1/144 from 1/72 a little bit. Wanted to do a series of regional turboprops of different eras and ATR-42 was a missing part.
Eric B. Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Wow, Another great news this week.. X-Scale is ambitious... Eric B.
TheFlyingDutchman Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Very cool! However I don't see why they won't include six-blade props to model the -500 and -600 variants which are most of the ATR's currently in service. Or am I overlooking other major differences? 1

Ben Brown Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Great! I had a couple of friends who flew those for American Eagle. Ben

Nymond Posted June 29 Posted June 29 A huge clear part for the cockpit, nothing for the sides but small ones for the lights. Thanks for saving my money. The Minicraft tooling style seems to never dies out.

But also could be they just did not need as much parts on the sprue and just gated off unused area on the machine. I think latter is a bit higher probability as spinners are not next to 4-bladed props while some other bits are around them so you can't gate off 4-bladed area of the sprue in the future. Possibly they just make a bigger sprue with both 4 and 6 bladed props? 1
Ben Brown Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Perhaps the separate blades and hubs are so you can build the props feathered, as they would be when the engines were shut down. Ben 1
Britman Posted July 28 Posted July 28 That's probably what's going on there Ben. We could do with a peek at the destructions! Keith 1
Dennis_C Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Separate blades are no doubt for feathered props. A nice touch! 2

Dave G I've long looked at a F-RSIN ATR-72 in Air New Zealand colours, I think you've put me off it now Dave, so I'm wondering, is the way this kit molded likely to lead to a -72 kit as well, it might be worth waiting for. Steve.

As we all know these kits have their challenges! Keith
