I've started this one as well as the MiG. Monogram certainly is simpler (only second Monogram I've ever built).

Canopy area and parts painted. No cockpit decals, I did just a little detail paint- which probably won't be visible when completed- oh well. cockpit assembled. I'll look into whether I need nose weight.

I believe F-105s are tail-sitters.

Thanks, I looked at it, and decided it could certainly use some nose weight.

Cockpit added to fuselage. Nose weight added.

Fuselage put together, filled and sanded. Wings attached, small other parts glued. The spar to help align the wings was just a BIT too large in the middle, wouldn't let the fuselage halves  join- so I trimmed it just a little to make that happen ( a note for anyone else that wants to build this kit).

Next, I need to fill seams on wing joints, sand- then mask off the cockpit, and it will be ready for primer.

Flying along, looking good.

Amazing what you can get done, when Grandpa duty time drops off because they're gone on vacation! Bench time!

I got the armament put together. I want to start painting the plane, but I'm out of one color, and it's out of stock, so I'll have to set this aside for just a bit- hopefully not more than a week or two.

First top color painted.

Next up, masking and painting the next two colors, clearing for decals, masking and painting the canopy.

Blimey, you're not hanging around are you.

I try not to!

Also, all through my model building life (decades) I've never had a "shelf of doom". I generally don't even open a kit unless I'm ready to build it- I don't start one, then put it away.  Once I start one, I never stop until I finish it.

And it looks like you're working day and night on it. 🤣

Another good result, and the old Monogram kit looks like it was a doddle for you!
