bootneck Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I have taken an interest in making buildings as backdrops for my dioramas but I have had problems in identifying the heights of some of the structures I've seen, such as this one. Can anyone recommend a free app that I can load on to my smartphone [xiaomi 11se 5G] in order that I can find the various heights of roofs, windows and arches etc? I will admit that my knowledge of the workings of a smartphone is very limited, I only use it to take photos, so any advice or assistance would be very much appreciated. cheers, Mike
Mr_Sworld Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Some apps claim to measure the heights of objects, but their accuracy is a matter of debate. They all seem to rely on basic trigonometry to get an answer, but as phones don't have laser rangefinders built in, I fail to see how they do this. You could get a laser measure with a Pythagoras function that works it out, but: a) Not Free b) Not a phone. However, it is nice kit for around the house. DeWalt Laser Measure
