The Airfix 737 has served me well over the past few decades but a modern kit of this iconic airliner is well overdue!  Looks like an advanced -200 which is even better.

What was speculated became rumor, and what was rumor is soon to become fact.  Well done, X Models!  This is a much-needed update to replace Airfix's old thing.  Great subject.

Hi,

I was hoping for one, long needed in the 1/144th scale to replace the other B737-200 kits in that scale.

I admit I was not expecting it from X-scale (I was thinking another brand) but that is good news.

I wonder if this is a totally new design or they are reusing CADs for previously existing Eastern Express 737-100? I think Eastern Express being a Russian firm was contracting Ukrainian mold makers (and probably CAD makers too) to produce 1/144 airliner kits. With the start of the war EE has gone on hold but their projects survived through several fully Ukrainian firms including X-Scale. In particular two latest models (DC-8 and Trident) in EE pipeline became the two first for X-Scale.

If you had studied the issue carefully, you would have noticed that the 737-100 EE did not use a 3D model. The master model of their Boeing was cut by hand. I will even say more, they simply took someone else's model, slightly modified it and released it under their brand.

No way they could reuse something so mediocre. X-Scale is about excellency (at least in my view, others will state how horrible they are to build, grind here, shave there, but I think they are simply brilliant) and they pride themselves, rightly so, for their extensive research and accuracy.

Hi Vitaly, thank you for the explanation! So this 737-200 is a totally new tooling which is a great news! Latest models from EE were good but those from early 2010s like 737-100 were not that nice indeed.

Renders look excellent.  Looks like you have captured the shapes around the stabilizers and rear fuselage perfectly.   Also looks like you are using a clear window belt much like CRM did with their 727.  I am excited to see an early 737 on the market in a few months.  Hopefully by then Russia will be out of Ukraine by then and life can begin to return to peace and family.

Oh no, not clear window strips ☹️

I have never built a kit with them but sanding it smooth with the fuselage seems like a 15 minute job, using a proper sanding block. Or do I underestimate it?

Looking forward to this release!

For me it's more about making a decal where the window apertures in any cheatlines  line up with the kit windows.

I think the window strips are just smooth, with no outlines on them. Intended for decals with holes in them, which are just laid over the top to give transparent windows. Same as with the Caravelle they designed for A-Model.

They would have to have outlines and masks for the windows in the same way as the CRM 727-200 does in order to make painting easier :)

I will of course still be making decals for it :)
