Funny, I was just thinking about this idea yesterday...  I need a poke to stop getting out my CA kit, looking at it, and then setting it aside again!

(While thinking about it, I mused about a continuation of the WWII tendency to take high-performance bombers and make night fighters out of them.  Someone will now remind me that this was, in fact done.)

Edit: Well, it was at least thought of:

I've never done one of these build type things before, so it will be an interesting experience

So good to hear the 'SME' of all things Canberra's is hinting to take part with this STGB.

All we need know is for Wing Leader publications to also take notice and punch out a Photo Achieve book so that we can get all the little things right.

Cheers.. Dave

Dave,

I've been jotting down a few thoughts about the Canberra B.2 and T.4 regarding the various diferances with the airframe and the two types with a view to doing a book aimed at modelers. So far I've only been working on the B.2 and it's running to 70 + pages so far! I've focused heavily on photography's and drawings from my AP library, if I can pull it off I'm hoping it could prove useful to modelers and people with an interest in the Canberra.

No, as our American cousins would say 4 more years.

As I said, I've never done one of these, so excuse my ignorance. What needs to happen for one of these events to go ahead?

Once we've got 25 sign-ups (getting close!) the proposal goes in to the annual vote (the bunfight) to select the subjects for next year's group build calendar. This year there are 8 standard group builds and 8 single type group builds. If it makes it through, our glorious leader @Enzo the Magnificent will allocate us a three month slot, and that's pretty much it. It'll get its own section in the Group Builds part of the forum, participants will start a thread to document each build, and there will be a gallery for finished builds.

I’d be down, I broke the canopy on my airfix pr9 last and if the transplant and repaint of a matchbox one doesn’t blend in well I’ll need a replacement sooner rather than later

I'd forgotten when I posted this a canberra is a twin eligible in the post ww2 twins GB later in the year, either way still game for a Canberra if I do a PR8 in that, want to do a B8 at some point, have attempted the repair and it doesn't look like its taken well due to the hemp paint being too different, will post the pics when its done later  edit: repaired, shame the surgery is so obvious, also forgive the crudity of the build, this is one of the oldest I have left, at least it will do for now  IMG-7250.jpgIMG-7251.jpg

Nearly there - two more signups to go (it's 25 for an STGB isn't it?)

I’m surprised that this has never been suggested before. Count me in. Possibly a FAA T4 conversion of an Airfix kit.

I'll not 100% sure if my 1/48th Airfix model is too far along or not for this one, but will join in the fun even if it is not gallery acceptable. I do have a 1/48th full resin model that I could build if I'm completely bonkers!
