Title says it all - how about a Canberra STGB? A hugely important aircraft of the postwar era and I don't think it's had an STGB before (this is where someone pops up and reminds me there was one just recently that I totally forgot!).

I think it's a great subject for an STGB. Operated by countries on every continent except Antarctica, loads of different variants (I'd include everything from the prototype to the WB-57F), entered service in 1951 and there are still three flying with NASA. And most of those operators actually used them in anger. Not to mention the many experimental and trials aircraft and their various mods and colour schemes, if (like me) raspberry ripple is your thing.

There are kits in 1/144, 1/72 and 1/48 and I wouldn't be surprised if someone on BM has some obscure 1/32 vacform in their stash. OK there aren't any modern shake and bake super-detailed kits but, as plenty of builds on BM have shown over the years, they're all eminently buildable. And (I think) all the major airframe variants are available in kit form.

So how about it?

Well seeing as I just received my very first ever Canberra kit (Airfix). I say yes, as I still need a late model RAF (PR.9/T-17) and a couple of B-57 (Vietnam/ECM) variants.

If I could ever find a 1/48 kit at a reasonable price to match up with my Caracal decals for the SEA camo over black Canberra, I’ll join.

Yes, several I could have a go at, but a Kiwi B(I)12 would be a strong contender.   :)

No, it's two wrongs don't make a right, but two (w)rights make an airplane. Silly

I’d be down, I broke the canopy on my airfix pr9 last and if the transplant and repaint of a matchbox one doesn’t blend in well I’ll need a replacement sooner rather than later

Nice!

I just remembered I have a couple of B-57s in the stash, hopefully this gets through and I can actually have time to build them!

Just saying, I’m finding the current Mosquito STGB really educational as we’ve got a good crop of excellent modellers all sharing their knowledge on the one particular subject.
Participating here has allowed me to incorporate some small additional modifications to my model which adds to its overall accuracy, something I’m really grateful for and probably would never have picked up myself.
So if you’ve never joined a Single Type Group Build before, take it from me they are really educational if you get in, chat and comment with like-minded modellers on all the various threads.

Cheers, regards and I hope this Canberra GB gets up.. Dave

Yes please, I've got plenty of Canberras to have a go at so this will give me a kick to start building them.

Thanks Dave, very well said!

And with this in mind, maybe our proposed STGB would benefit from the man who wrote the book - @canberra kid do you fancy signing up for a Canberra STGB?
