Bluesky is not a reputable or trustworthy site. I will be checking to ensure you do not even covertly use any of my images. 1 1 1
Stef N. Posted May 20 Posted May 20 You could have simply said no, I would have understood, hence the reason why I asked politely in the first place. 1 5

Caps Lock, Bold, exclamation mark, that's very shouty.... In a world where a lot of people think anything posted on an open forum is fair game, and copyright doesn't count if it's cropped off or a given a perfunctory credit, it's nice to see someone asking politely for permission to share someone else's work. A polite "Sorry, no. I'd prefer my work not to appear on Bluesky due to previous copyright infringements from that site" would have gone down much better I'm sure. I get your frustration at blatant copyright theft, but answers like yours above to a polite request aren't going to encourage others to make similar requests. 2 1 5

In a world where a lot of people think anything posted on an open forum is fair game for them to pass judgment, regardless of whether the topic has anything to do with them, is obviously on the increase, as evidenced here! Another example of Trump and Musk’s selective concept of ‘free speech’ methinks! A more considered approach by the individual wanting to use one of my images would have been via a private message, or, as in previous decades, via a one-to-one letter! That’s what others have done, including myself when seeking images for books that I’ve written. 4
Mark Harmsworth Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Wow. I've only just seen this. What an aggressive way to answer a polite question. If you are concerned about this why are you posting anyway? Once posted on an open forum you have lost control. Irrespective of how shouty you get. 2 1
rayprit Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I can understand why the refusal..........I used to post photos on this site and thought nothing of it until one day I browsed the internet on a particular subject and found my photos credited to somebody else......also found them on various forums, so since then, I never post photos on this site, I find it not trustworthy........nobody asked my permission or credited them to me, they just added there name for credit.........as Dave Swindell said early "anything posted on an open forum is fair game, and copyright doesn't count "......I found out the hard way

Please think, before posting an asinine political comment. Do you really think that the US President and the CEO of several tech companies are in any way involved in your problems of copyright violation? 1

Yes it was impolite, there was no need for it, a simple no would have been enough. In addition please keep your politics to yourself. There will be no more warnings on this. 3

Dave Swindell Posted May 25 Posted May 25 12 hours ago, Julien said: Are you saying Britmodeller is not a trustworthy site? I don't think Ray was having a go at Britmodeller members in general, however I would have used "secure" rather than "trustworthy". Britmodeller is an open public site which anyone can access and download images for any use, good or bad, and the moderators don't have any control over this. There are some sites (eg Facebook private groups) where membership can be limited and vetted by the admins and moderators, which could be regarded as much more secure than Britmodeller, but they don't have the size of audience. Bottom line, if you're concerned about your images appearing elsewhere on the web, choose low res watermarked versions of images you're happy to share, don't post them on open public websites, and if you're still concerned, don't post them at all. It's your choice, you're not obliged to post them. And just for clarity, this is aimed at everyone, not at any particular individual. 4 1
