HK-500 Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 These twin events ( there's one in UK and the other one here in France😍) manage to gather so many passionate people , not mentioning the vehicles of course. @s.e.charles if I was in UK , I could probably get a registration for my project , and participate in the F.O.S or other Edwardians meetings ( we call them ancestors in France ) but I'm sadly ( in this occurence ) French and as much as I love my home country I can't even hope of being allowed to drive on open roads here with a license plate... I 'll have to use it on very small and secluded roads and we have plenty of these in my beloved Occitanie region😉 . 1
HK-500 Posted June 11 Author Posted June 11 Good evening , one more update The following pics were taken at the start of February 2025. At last my mounting parts ( G.N style ) for the axle/spring leaf link were done ( thank to my dad who was an industrial drawer , I was able to give a blueprint to my steel workshop ) There's a hint of T.I.E fighter , eh ? The rest of the remaining months were spent in trying to adapt the wheels of an electric bicycle ( as Mr Gunn suggested me when he answered by e-mail , as he used the wheels of a cargo bicycle for his Grafton ) but it was a dead end... I then took the decision to look for two more proper wheels , but to no avail ( at least with private sellers ). A bit flustered, in the course of April I decided to contact a professionnal specialised in very old french cars and he surprisingly called me back a few days after telling me he found what I was looking for !! Before / After , and more scraping/brushing For the spokes , the good ol' way is the only one to go : abrasive bands That very part is a real nuisance to clean and de-rust but the brush tucks itself neatly inside😁 Next update will see the rear axle making and the search for bearings as well. See you😎 7
HK-500 Posted June 16 Author Posted June 16 The new update is here When May 2025 started , the weather was quite pleasant for a few days , so I decided to assemble the rear axle And took a picture of the front as well One of my neighbours gave me a set of bearing assembly , but it needed a pair of steel mounting plates And a lot of bolts and nuts So far so good And here they are equipped with the mounting tube that will be inserted in the rear axle Stay tuned😎 5
HK-500 Posted 19 hours ago Author Posted 19 hours ago Hello fellows , some news on the way😉 Ahahaaaaa that was my mindset when I discovered that my bearings were in fact a model made for sustaining shafts or axles , not wheels : these parts aren't made to cope with transversal forces , only axial... Back to square one , and despite my thorough search around my living area , there was no outlet able to sell me what I was looking for... The net saves the day once more ( to my utter disappointment ) and the hubs arrived at my house and fit perfectly to my wheels. I can now call back my specialised vendor to see if he received the tyres I was waiting for😎 3
