Are there any photos of the original and not adopted weapon pylons at stations 1 and 9? I did look for them.

Thank you

I Googled F-15 Outboard Pylon and this was the first hit under images, posted over at ARC:

F-15-Stores22.jpg

Many of the early F-15 kits included these. I know they were included in the Monogram, Hasegawa and Tamiya 1/48 kits. The Monogram and Tamiya kits also had the ECM pod from this photo.

I googled the wrong thong and all the stuff for the EX came out. No kit in 1/72 has them as far as I know.

Thank you.

Why were these stations never used? not needed?

If memory serves me half correct. The original Fujimi and Tamiya A kits came out with the pylons. But I chose to build the F-15A Streak Eagle to test my abilities to mix paints.

There were stability and control issues at some attitudes with the original mechanical flight control system, so they were never allowed operationally.  There were occasional proposals through the 80s that showed them in use. There's at least one photo of a Eagle with AGM-88s hanging on them

The new generation Eagles like the F-15EX with fly by wire flight controls can deal with the instabilities, so the stations have been reactivated. The pylon are different on the new planes.

I told my girlfriend the same when she walked in on me. ;)

Those pylons do not look that difficult to scratchbuild with a bit of styrene plate.

I take it that the outer pylons were actually wired up in the production aircraft (A/B and C/D) but never used?

Italeri 1/72 F-15C & E have them as well (parts B65 & B66).
