Flintstone Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Very impressive! I take it that this is a peacetime colour scheme as X marks the spot on each turret seems to be asking for trouble?🙂 1
Zoran Srb Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Nice, clean build. Congrats!! And as greedy as it might seem, what's next? P.S. No, you don't build them too fast, you just warp time.... 1 1
Faraway Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 Just now, Zoran Srb said: you just warp time.... I wish. I do like to keep active, I find these kits keep my mind ticking over and my fingers from getting stiff. And in answer to your question....... Jon 1
Vlad Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Amazing! I really enjoy following your work, speedy and really sharp and smart. I think clean builds like this don't get anywhere near the appreciation they deserve, but this really goes to show you don't need to drown a ship model in rust and grime for it to look simply spectacular. 1 1 1 1

You're very kind, I tend to only 'weather' my models if I mount them on a 'sea base'. Even then I don't like doing the 'weathering' as its not something I'm very good at. Jon 1
KDB Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Hi Jon, I really like your build - well done! I really like the very pale ‘whitewashed’ shade you’ve used overall. What colour did you use to get such a very pale result? I have an Admiral Scheer that I am doing in the inter war years and am looking to achieve that same very whited out effect. Cheers - Karl 1

All the paint I used is from Resolution Hobbies Colourcoats https://resolutionhobbies.com/ The overall grey is NARN22 (1936 Light Grey 507C/G45) and the metal deck is NARN23 (WW11 Dark Grey Non-slip Deck Paint) If for any reason you can't get this excellent paint you could try using a Vallejo Model Air mix. For 507C/G45 mix Pale Blue Grey 71.046 and White 71.001 1:1 ratio. This was created by a fellow BMer @robgizlu back when it looked like Colourcoats, then owned by Sovereign Hobbies was not going to be available any more. But luckily Keith Richardson aka. @beefy66 stepped in and saved the day. Jon 1 1
KDB Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Awesome! Thanks for that Jon, your info is much appreciated. Cheers - Karl 1
Rob 1 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 That is nicely done, as others have said a very tidy finish. Is this a pre-war/early war scheme? 1
robgizlu Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Can only agree with all the other comments Jon = looks superb - museum quality build Rob 1

Chrisj2003 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Jon, ships are not my thing, but this was highlighted on the photo sharing site we both use and I recognise great modelling, those railing, the catapults and the rigging add so much. Chris 1
Chris Hewitt Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Great build ,keep looking at my Exeter, thanks for sharing. 1 1
Alan P Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Beautifully done again, I agree with @Vlad, it's great to see a really smart, sharp build as neat as yours 👍 1
