Neddy Posted April 18 Posted April 18 ...thus entitled (thankyou Ross!) because it's a Range Rover 4x4 2+2. 🤓 Every now and then I get the urge to go off-piste and stray away from OOB builds and this is one of those times. I hankered after doing another truck conversion following the success of the Beast from the East and it occurred to me that the original range Rover's styling was such that it lent itself to a bit of hacking about. Sooner than simply dumping the bodywork behind the B pillars I thought I'd attempt an up-market conversion more along the lines of a coupe or 2+2. I found an Aoshima 1/24 kit at an affordable price and this is the result. The WIP can be found here. ...and finally a view of the underside, detailed enough in this kit to deserve a pic... I'm delighted at the way it's turned out, largely due to the sheer quality of the Aoshima kit making it a joy to build and hack about. This has been real fun to build, I hope you've enjoyed following it. Huge thanks to those of you who did, your comments and feedback are always welcome and useful. It's also nice to know I'm not building in a vacuum and that others of like mind are following along. 31 13
Pete in Lincs Posted April 18 Posted April 18 It looks brilliant. The Range Rover Gamekeeper edition. Shotgun cabinet under the rear seat and sling the days tally in the bed. Hose it out later. Top Hole, old Chap! 3 1
SnøMotion Posted April 18 Posted April 18 It’s a fabulous build, this, @Neddy, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed following along! I think your plastic chopping and sticking skills are something to behold! It looks entirely factory produced (Aoshima factory, that is, not Austin Rover Group or whatever they were going by at the time ) and painted beautifully. Martin 2 1 2

Also to be seen at the point-to-point loaded with hoorays (male and female) with a crate of Bolly in the back. 🍾😁 1 4
othertales Posted April 18 Posted April 18 A most excellent build to see finished and to follow during WIP. All modifications and work done really show in how well proportioned and sporty it looks. It deserves a reverse of the usual order we follow—a 1:1 should be built inspired by this scale model 🛠️ 1 1
cmatthewbacon Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Most excellent. I never expected to see a Range Rover ute, but here we are. Brilliantly executed and very believable. Now we just need one in black for the SPECTRE Edition... Well done! best, M. 2 1
Farmer matt Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Excellent mod work. The original design 'concept sketches' of the 1:1 could easily have included such a vehicle. Very believable. Matt 1

The finished result actually looks like a top o.o.b. build of a latest Aoshima release! As the late great Mr. Morecambe used to say 'you can't see the join....!!' Really lovely thing! Keith 1 1
Spottedlaurel Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Excellent, the concept and execution are spot-on and the finishing touches in the bed look very convincing. 1 1
SnøMotion Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Actually, given your chosen colour, it would make a perfect stablemate to the convertible Rangey from Octopussy Martin 1
Keeff Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Love it! A great build to follow and a great result too! Keith ☺️ 1
Technics Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Awesome build! And great to learn the Aoshima kit is of quality. Thanks for sharing this well done project. 1
Richard E Posted April 18 Posted April 18 A build which it has been a pleasure to follow - the end result does look like the product of a specialist coach builder. If I could float an idea for your next project, someone near me has built or acquired a pick up truck derived from an M3 BMW.......! 1
RossFMJ Posted April 18 Posted April 18 As everyone else says, it was great seeing the build progress and it looks great. I particularly love the wooden bits in the rear, a fitting place for a case of Bolly for Henrys and Henriettas. 1
Davi Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Yeah, that is cool, the idea, choice of colors, the execution... Really nicely done! 1
Neddy Posted April 20 Author Posted April 20 Wow! Thank you all so much for your kind and generous comments people, I never realised so many were taking an interest in the build. As I've mentioned previously, modelling is by nature a solitary hobby and it's great to be part of this community - the support and encouragement I find here makes a huge difference, not to mention the help and tips. Cheers guys. 4
cherry268 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Lovely model and I am sure somebody in the Range Rover fraternity will build it if they see this 1
