When I met up with H @Hockeyboy76 at this years South Cheshire Model Show he very kindly gave me this kit. Having so far withstood his efforts to enrol me as part of the 'Pink Primer Massive', I assume that this Eggy Osprey was to be a further assault on my determination not to be drawn to the Darker Side of his modelling antics. It won't work I tell 'ee. :lalala: :tinfoil:

Having said that, another donation by H and one of my few successful Blitzbuild completions was this Eggy P-47 Thunderbolt.

Anyway here are the requisite photos of the Egg-box and its contents.

I started my first session of building around 12:45pm today by debagging the parts.

And when I took a break for some lunch a couple of hours later, this is how far I had got.

About 55 minutes later it was time to restart building.

Almost one hour later, I had the engines assembled, the undercarriage legs fitted and the props together.

Because the engines are held in place with poly-caps it will make painting those parts easier, and my reason for adding the undercarriage at this stage is because the colour call out is the same as that for the undersides.

Tomorrow I will tidy the joins, add filler to any areas that require it, assemble and paint the pilot to fill the cavernous cockpit, then add the canopy and hopefully make a start on the painting. (T/T 2.83)

Before I start a brief session for today, I thought I would update you with yesterdays progress - though there is not a lot to see. I started the day by assembling and priming the pilot figure. and whilst the primer was drying I started to tidy up the few joins and applied a couple o spots of filler where it was needed.

Once I was satisfied with the joins I added the fins to the tail and then stopped for some lunch.

Once I restarted, the remainder of the afternoon session was spent detail painting the pilot and after painting with a mix of Revell and Citadel, a few different Citadel washes and reapplying the colours used, it was time for decals and her test fit.

After a short break, I sprayed on a coat of Citadel Munitorium Varnish to even things up then repainted the goggles with Revell Gloss Black acrylic. Then closed the session for the day by glueing the pilot in place.

Like I said, not a lot to show for the days effort, but hey it's progress. (TT 9.75)

Cheers.

That pilot looks really nice!  Eye highlights and all.👍

Thanks for the comment. I can't take any credit for the eyes, they are decals from the kit. Look good though.

Here is my progress update for today. I wanted to get the canopy fixed in place, then mask that off, and prime the model by the end of the session. This is how I left things last night.

I fixed the canopy in place, this is one of the clearest and thinnest injection moulded clear parts I have used. Because the frames are supplied as decals I took the decision completely mask the canopy, I only hope that my paint colours are a close match.

Then it was time for some primer, my choice being Halfords Grey Plastic Primer, which can be used on any colour of plastic not just grey.

This flagged up a couple of areas that required further sanding etc and these were taken care of, then re-primed.

Having torn a little piece out of one decal and dislodged two more whilst trying to get them to lie over the compound curves, I have decided to call it a night.

The painting went well though, I'll post photos taken throughout the day of progress tomorrow.

Cheers

Great work on her good buddy, shame the decals misbehaved for you. Looking forward to seeing her finished.

After abandoning this build last night, I said that I would update the progress I made yesterday. I started work on the build at 1:00pm, this is how things stood then and my first job was to spray the wheels with Chaos Black.

I was lucky with my choice of primer for the model because when compared to the Xtracrylix Dark Compass Grey, I felt that it was a close match. I gave the model a polish with kitchen paper to smooth out the primer, then masked off for the Blue Grey colour and brushed on a couple of coats of Lifecolor FS35237.

Whilst that was drying I took a break for some lunch and then masked up for the lower section colour. I brushed on three layers of Lifecolor FS36375 Light Compass Grey to cover the primer, drying each layer with a hair dryer. After the last layer had dried I applied a couple of clear coats in readiness for the decals.

A little of an hour later I abandoned the decalling, I had put a small tear in one of the fin decals and became frustrated after I had dislodged two more that I had placed over some complex compound curves. I decided that it would be best to leave things as they were and revisit the model in a better frame of mind the following day.

That brings me to today, I had to have a  blood test this afternoon but when we got home I completed the decalling, then sealed them in with some matt clear. I then painted in the metallic areas on the undercarriage and refuelling probe. Work continued with painting of the wheel hubs, engine intakes and exhausts and the silver on the prop blades. I then fixed all the remaining components in place to complete the project.

I think that I made the right decision last night, setting the model aside meant that I could approach it refreshed and complete it. I would just like to add my thanks to all who have followed along, and a big thank you should really go to my good modelling buddy @Hockeyboy76 for gifting me the kit,  :thanks: mate. I hope you like the way it turned out.

Cheers to all.
