Hi Everyone,

This is a Mikro-mir 1/144 MD11 kit that I built during the COVID lockdown. It sat in the shed, unfinished but in primer for many months. It wasn’t the most fun build I have done but that’s what this fine hobby is about.

I invented some cool new swear words with this kit.

The kit finishes ok and looks close to a MD11, but I will be purchasing an Authentic Airliners version for my golden years.

Thanks again for looking .

 Gav

I had to smile when I read this. Some kits are just like that and the only reason we finish them is to keep the unfinished kit from haunting us. VERY nice work on this difficult kit.

The best livery ever applied to a commercial airliner in my opinion, and a great result with the kit too.

Thanks for posting this and your rather nice Tristar.

Hello

This looks very nice indeed and very much worth the self creation of a new vocabulary!

I had a go at the same kit about 7 or so years back but when it had an Eastern Express boxing guise but it didn't turn out quite as nice as yours has here. I don't really get why they decide to leave the rear end of the fuz as a separate section - like their L1011 boxing.

You do the kit great justice using the AA up-front decals, compared to my attempt, which looks very bland and boring.

Anyway, enough about mine and back to yours - very nice indeed. I am always interested in any civil builds that come up here - top stuff to you buddy.

Thank you everyone for the comments and pictures .

The Thai MD11 in that scheme was truly a beautiful aircraft . I actually never got to fly in it but saw it at the gate at Brisbane and fell in love with it.

I attempted to build the Welsh MD11  kit years ago but it beat me which is a shame as I have enjoyed building vac-form  a few times in the past and the Welsh fuselage is nice. The Mike Mir offering was only a little easier. .

The Eastern Expess DC10 kit is built the same way but I found it easier than the MD11 as I had completed 2 x L1011 build in between so built them all up fairly similar.

Thanks again for viewing 🙏

Very nice MD-11.

One of my alltime favourite airliners and a treat to fly with.

If I am correct,I flew on this very aircraft from Zurich to Bangkok back in 1997 and enjoyed it a lot.

The MikroMir/Eastern Express kit is quite a challenge but you got a great result out of it which is a fine tribute to this wonderful aircraft.

Oye, a bit of smack about the 1/144 MD-11!?

I have not started my Delta bird yet, but I did finish its cousin, the AMP KC-10A with Caracal decals.  Yes, a bit of a slog here and there.  But compared to a Mach 2 kit, it was like building the latest wonder model from Tamiya.
